Hello Friends.
How happy my lawn and plants are this morning after last night’s rain. The air smelled like Summer as I left the house this morning. What a great way to start my day, thank you God.
Fr. Kelly’s Mass on Sunday was such a joyful and holy celebration. The joy continued at his Open House. I felt honored to be a small part in saying “thank you Father” for all you have been to our St. Brendan the Navigator Parish. We all have heard “it takes a village,” and this special celebration was no different. Thank you to all who organized, planned, set up, served, and cleaned up. Thank you to the local businesses who provided delicious food, yummy desserts, and beverages. Thank you to the musicians, cantor and singers who shared their talents. Thank you to all who celebrated Mass with Father and those who attended the Open House. Most of all, thank you to God for the gift of Fr. Kelly, and the vibrancy, joy, and camaraderie of our parish family. How blessed we are!
Please join us in praying for our Country on our Independence Day. Thursday, July 4, THE PATRIOTIC ROSARY, Maris Stella Church, 8:45am. Seeking God’s blessing and the intercession of Our Blessed Mother is so important at this time in the history of USA. Let’s be honest, it has been of utmost importance since the start of our great country. The Patriotic Rosary is a great start to the holiday weekend. I hope you are able to come.
The Parish Office will be closed July 4 & 5 for the holiday. The office will re-open Monday, July 8 at 9am.
There are less than 390 Raffle tickets left! If you don’t want to miss out, please get your tickets soon. Remember this is the 1100 Raffle. Once the 1100 tickets are gone, they are gone. Tickets are available after all weekend Masses and at the Parish Office.Tickets are $100. Grand prize is $35,000 along with (4) $5,000 prizes. Drawing will take place on Sept. 10, 2024.
Friends, are you an Altar Server, Lector or Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at your home parish and Summering here on 7 Mile Island? Would you like to serve here at St. Brendan the Navigator? If yes, please contact Deacon Bob Dooley, 609-287-9205.
If you would like to have your home blessed, please contact the parish office 609-967-3746 to make arrangements.
Be aware that there are a lot of websites named St. Brendan the Navigator, which do not belong to us. Please make note of our official website: www.stbrendanavalon.org. This is where you can find correct Mass times. Also, please pick up a calendar from any of the churches or the parish office. The calendar has Mass schedule, website and parish contact information.
The weekend of July 6-7, The Little Bethlehem Christian Group will be at all Masses with their olive wood artwork.
As we continue in The Year of the Eucharistic Revival (2023-2025), From the book, “Mystery of the Altar. Daily meditations on the Eucharist.” “He clearly says, “this is my body” and “this is my blood” (Mt26:26,28) that you may not think the appearances are only a figure, but that the proffered gifts we partake in are, in fact, transformed into the body and blood of Christ in accordance with the truth of God who is ineffable and omnipotent. And by receiving them, we receive into ourselves the life-giving and sanctifying power of Christ.” St. Cyril of Alexandria (378-444)P. 181
The next chapter of our parish begins, Monday, July 1 as Fr. Ray Gormley arrives as Pastor of St. Brendan the Navigator. I am excited to meet and get to know Fr. Gormley. I hope he is met with warm smiles, gentle ocean breezes, and kind understanding. We humans aren’t particularly fond of change, but it is with change that we are challenged, we grow, and we become more of who God created us to be. True of each individual, also true of a parish.
Have a wonderful week, friends. Please be safe and careful…the pedestrian, bike, and vehicular traffic is crazy. As Fr. John O’Leary always said at the close of Summer Masses, “there are a lot of crazies out there, don’t be one of them!”
Blessings & Joy,
Michelle
