The Rev’d Raymond Walker, III

to continue at St. Bede’s

as Priest Associate

It is with great joy that I can announce that the Rev’d Raymond Walker, III will be continuing at St. Bede’s as Priest Associate after he is ordained to the priesthood on June 24. Raymond will continue his full-time work in hospital ministry at Emory while adding a very part-time (averaging 5 hours per week) pastoral and liturgical presence at St. Bede’s. Raymond’s pastoral heart and bilingual ability will allow him to be supportive of the full breadth of the parish.

In addition to presiding at worship and occasionally preaching and teaching, Raymond will take on the ministry portfolio of “pastoral coordination” that has been shepherded by the Rev’d Lynnsay Buehler for the past several years (Lynnsay will continue as Priest Associate and Director of the Julian of Norwich Center). This means that Raymond will help coordinate our pastoral care efforts by working with members of the Pastoral Care Team, Eucharistic Visitors, and the other clergy to make sure that pastoral needs are attended to.

Raymond’s appointment to this work has been met by a one-year commitment from the Vestry to fund this position by special gifts outside of the parish budget. This could be extended by mutual discernment at the end of that period. Please join me in rejoicing that Raymond’s ministry will continue with us for an extended season.

Peace,

Chad

THE BUNCO BUNCH

Here’s the story of a group of ladies,

Who were all from very different walks of life.

They were complex, comforting, and openminded,

And they were all polite.

Then all these ladies started playing Bunco,

They became sassy, optimistic, and upbeat.

Knowing they would roll three sixes on the dice,

They began to compete.

Till the one day when a lady yelled Bunco,

And she knew that it was much more than a hunch.

That this group must somehow form a family,

That’s the way they became the Bunco Bunch

The Bunco Bunch

The Bunco Bunch

That’s the way they became the Bunco Bunch

McLemore's Musings

We hope you are enjoying a new feature in St. Bede's E-News - McLemore's Musings. Many of you have met the Rev'd Bill McLemore who has joined the St. Bede's community. Bill has been a priest for over 57 years and has served parishes all over the Episcopal Church. Bill is the former archivist of the Diocese of Atlanta and authored the 100th anniversary book on the history of the Diocese. Bill is also an artist and has used his artistic skills and sense of humor for many years to draw hundreds of cartoon that comically comment on life in the Episcopal Church. Each week we will share a cartoon here that Bill selects from his collection. Enjoy!

Friend in Christ,

As violence escalates in Ukraine, over one million people have already fled the country — and the borders are flooded with many more people desperate to leave.

Almost all of them are women and children who have had to seek safety on their own, leaving their husbands, fathers, brothers and sons behind.

As this crisis continues to evolve, we are working with Anglican agencies and our other partners to provide humanitarian assistance, and urgently ask for your help.

Your emergency gift today will support our immediate response, providing cash, blankets, hygiene supplies and other needs as this crisis unfolds.

Our faith networks are currently on the ground in the border areas of Poland, Hungary and Romania, and we will continue to coordinate with them in order to help those who have been displaced. Specifically, our partner ACT Alliance is helping families on the Hungarian border, and our Anglican partners are mobilizing both an immediate and long-term response in Poland, Romania and Hungary.

Yours faithfully,

Robert W. Radtke
