Dear St. Augustine's 'ohana,
Presiding Bishop Michael Curry shared a message of care of compassion to the Diocese of Hawai'i, and especially to those affected by the deadly Maui fires that destroyed Lāhainā and a community that included Holy Innocents Episcopal Church.
We are grateful to the Presiding Bishop for taking the time to share this message, as he faces his own serious health issues. He was only recently released from the hospital on August 23, and is scheduled for surgery soon. Continue to keep our Presiding Bishop in your prayers, for his full recovery.
You can also view the statewide vigil in support of Maui, which has been going on all day today, including vigils at dawn, noon, and sunset. The vigils are centered on emotional and spiritual healing that is rooted in Native Hawaiian practices with leaders from diverse faiths. Watch on YouTube here or on KITV here.

SUNDAY SCHOOL - Held each Sunday at 9:00 am with Youth Director Kathy Matsuda along with Michelle White, Kathy Webb and Lucas Corey. This week Lucas will be telling the story of The Holy Family.
FELLOWSHIP HOUR - Every Sunday after our 9:00 am service. We gather to enjoy conversation, coffee, and treats in Walker Hall. Please bring some savory or sweet treats to share if you like! Mahalo to all who have been providing delicious food and to Jeannette Hensel for bringing coffee.

BIBLE STUDY - Join us for Bible Study on Friday September 8th at 2:00 pm in Walker Hall. We’ll discuss the following readings: Ezekiel 33:7-11, Psalm 119:33-40, Romans 13:8-14, Matthew 18:15-20
CHOIR - No choir this coming Tuesday, September 5. Join us Tuesday, September 12 at 5:00 pm to sing through the hymns for the following Sunday. All are welcome!

THE JOY OF GIVING
Every St. Augustine's member who turns in a Time & Talents Form will be entered into a drawing for a $25 donation, which can be gifted to a member of their 'ohana, a friend in need, Maui relief efforts, or another non-profit of their choice. We will have four drawings: September 10, September 24, October 8, and October 22.

THE JOY OF SINGING!
If you sing in church, you're invited to join us every Tuesday at 5:00 pm! We go over the hymns for the following two weeks. No experience is necessary; just bring your voice, your love of music, and a willing heart to sing. Please join us even if you don't want to join the choir but just like to sing our hymns. Mahalo to Kirk for leading us and helping us make joyful sounds! All are welcome!

Also, please let Patsy Ching or Kathy Matsuda know if you will bring your food already packed in individual containers or if you need St. Augustine’s to provide containers (specify the type & quantity of containers).

Donation letters are available in Walker Hall if you have close contacts with a business or person you would like to present to. Please let Kathy Matsuda know who you are presenting donation letters to.

The Thrift Shop is open Wednesdays from noon - 6:00 pm and also on the first Saturday of the month from 8:00 am - 11:00 am.
