After this Mass, we will be having an admissions Open House for all parents interested in our school! You can sign up at AACA’s Linktree at linktr.ee/alphonsusacademy

There will be a give back event at Crosby's Kitchen, 3455 N. Southport, Sunday from 4-9 PM. 10% of each bill goes back to our school, and it's just up Southport!

Game Night!! Saturday, January 27 at 7:00 PM

Come one, come all to our Young Adult Ministry Game Night! This event will be a “stock the bar” theme. To gain admittance, please bring a beverage you enjoy (alcoholic or not - beer, seltzers, wine, soda, or soda water) to enjoy and leave behind to help us stock our YAM drink supply for future events.

We will have tables set up in the Festival Hall (the large gathering space under the church) and board games, card games, puzzles, and bingo for everyone to enjoy. Please consider joining us for a night of fun that will help us supply drinks at future YAM events!

Please take a free Magnificat book at Mass this weekend. Magnificat is a monthly publication designed for daily use, to encourage both liturgical and personal prayer. It can be used to follow daily Mass and can also be read at home or wherever you find yourself for personal or family prayer.

This Sunday, all Archdiocesan churches take up a special collection in support of the universal Church in Latin America.

Our parish is in need of faithful Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion. EMHC’s should be fully initiated and practicing Catholics having received baptism, confirmation, and first Eucharist. If you would like to volunteer for this important ministry at Mass, please contact Harvey Levin.

National Eucharistic Revival

What is a Eucharistic Revival?

The National Eucharistic Revival is a nationwide, three-year initiative, culminating this summer at the National Eucharistic Congress taking place in Indianapolis from July 17-21, 2024. The U.S. bishops responded to a need they saw in their flock: that the world is hurting, yet most of us are separated from our strength, Jesus in the Eucharist.

The Revival is "a movement to restore understanding and devotion to this great mystery" of our Eucharistic Lord and to recognize the wondrous gift God has given us: Himself

The Lord desires to heal our broken hearts. Let us draw near to Him in the Eucharist

National Eucharistic Revival

Did you know the Archdiocese of Chicago has a Parish Resources webpage for the National Eucharistic Revival? The webpage includes resources to help individuals and parish communities draw closer to Christ in the Eucharist and live as missionary disciples. Visit the site for resources related to:

  • study & reflection
  • worship
  • children, youth & families
  • mission & outreach
  • and more!

Eucharistic Sacred Art Contest for Adults

In partnership with St. Edmund’s Sacred Art Institute, The National Eucharistic Congress has an exciting opportunity for artists across the nation: the National Eucharistic Art Competition. Creative Catholics from all over the country are invited to share their talents and spread the beauty of our faith through art, particularly exploring the Eucharistic mystery and Eucharistic themes. Selected works will be showcased at the 10th National Eucharistic Congress.

Safe Families for Children

Please join us for New Volunteer Training on Saturday, February 24th here at St. Alphonsus! FREE light breakfast and lunch included! RSVP HERE!

Volunteer roles covered in training:

· "Host Family" - host local children in your home for short periods of time

· "Family Friend" - provide volunteer babysitting or transportation for host families and local families in crisis situations

Safe Families for Children is a national, Christian nonprofit which connects local families in crisis with "safe families" who volunteer to watch their children while parent(s) get back on their feet. This is a great opportunity to show Christ's love and compassion for local families, often young single moms with no support system, in a tangible and meaningful way.
