Share Time: Projects, etc.

This month, we'll take some extra time for everyone to share updates of their own. Feel free to share things like: a recent professional high or milestone; the latest project you have been working on; anything interesting you have seen lately. We'll also take some time to brainstorm future speakers, tours, projects, and possible training seminars.

@GeekWeekRome: Ideas

We need to firm up our date for this year's Geek Week and then start some initial planning for some great and geeky events. Bring your ideas and suggestions. Geek Week is our week-long celebration of technology, innovation, and all things geeky. Last fall we had a very successful first-ever community-wide event, complete with interactive digital installations, physical computing lab open houses, egg drop competitions, and cookouts. This year, we are looking to build our our success and get greater community involvement.

#hackforchange: App Ideas

National Day of Civic Hacking took place May 31-June 1, and Rome hosted its own festivities. NDoCH is an international event brings together technologists, entrepreneurs, developers and other citizens to improve our communities and the governments that serve them. We'll share some highlights and get everyone's input on possible civic hacking projects in Rome

#GASTEMDay: Recap

The Georgia Statewide STEM Day took place on May 9 and several local schools in Rome and Floyd County had STEM activities. STEM Day is a day for schools, students, teachers, and companies to raise awareness, celebrate and engage in activities involving science, technology, engineering and math.

Lowe's RDC: Geek Tour Recap

Last month we had the exciting opportunity to experience a special "geek tour" of the Lowe's Regional Distribution Center. Many thanks to everyone who attended. We will share some quick highlights from the field trip, including the cool and geeky aspects we learned along the way.

Don't forget to RSVP by replying to this email, or Click Here to register online.

I look forward to seeing everyone next Friday, June 27th!

Sincerely,
