Herbs are still on sale and with so many luscious ways to use them, it's time to add some to your garden.

Easy Herb and Geranium Butter

Start with a 1/2 lb of
slightly softened butter
(this is two sticks so it is enough to store, if you want just enough for serving, you can use one stick, or adjust as needed);
Add 1 tsp. each of fresh chopped chives, parsley, thyme or fresh herbs of your choosing;
Add 1/2 tsp. of fresh chopped scented geranium leaves (try lemon, which combines deliciously with most herbs);
Mix herbs and scented geranium leaves into butter and chill an hour before serving.

You can add salt and pepper to taste.

When storing, roll into shape using parchment paper and twist the ends to seal.

Serve on anything from bread to steamed veggies to baked potatoes!

Did you ever dream about relaxing in your favorite outdoor seat before a beautiful mix of reds, yellows, greens, and purples while butterflies breezed around enjoying your landscape?  We love creating Butterfly Gardens!  There are a few tricks to building a garden that butterflies will visit again and again, and we are celebrating the countdown to the first day of Spring with a FREE Butterfly Gardening Workshop this Sunday!

Festival season is underway!  This weekend you can find us here in Stuart at The Garden Club of Stuart's 2015 Flower Show and here in Melbourne at the Florida Institute of Technology Botanical Fest.

A gorgeous queen butterfly stops to say "hello" to red pentas.

Next week, we're breaking ground on a Butterfly House in the Garden Center!

Spring Ahead!
Your garden has been waiting for Spring all
Winter long!

Last weekend we sprung into Spring with all the rain and the milder temperatures. With these first signs of Spring, we can begin to clean up, prune, and fertilize our gardens. It's time to remove Winter's effects and fertilize to help push new growth and bring on the flowers.   This is a great time to assess what you want to add to your garden, and what projects you should begin.  When pruning, a good general rule is not to prune more than a third of the plant off at one time.  Always fertilize after you prune with a balanced palm fertilizer. We carry the fertilizer that Martin County has approved for residential use (12-0-8).  Feel free to perform minor touch-up and maintenance pruning all year long.  If you have any questions about how to prune, ask us, we're happy to help you keep your garden blooming and bursting!

And speaking of Springing Ahead...Don't forget to set your clocks ahead at 2:00AM this Sunday, March 8th!  There's another sign of Spring!

TIME TO VEG OUT!

On February 20th, we replanted our vegetable garden in containers.  We're doing this trial to find ways to help you grow more of your own food.

Take a look, the contained veggies are doing great!

Day One in containers.

Day Seven in containers!

Day Ten in containers!
