A Letter from the Executive Director
Dear Rice & Larpenteur Community,
This neighborhood we love is finally being granted the attention and support needed to become the safe, engaging, and inviting community that local residents and businesses have long hoped for and always deserved.
Since creating a Shared Vision in 2018, and launching our organization in 2020, we’ve shared successes and
suffered heartache. Now is the time to double-down, scale-up, and show the world that Rice & Larpenteur is not two busy roads on the edge of three cities - it is the heart of one extraordinary place to live, work, and play.
Thanks to unwavering support from City leadership in Roseville, Maplewood, and St. Paul, as well as Ramsey
County - we are well-positioned not only to see our vision come to life but to build upon it. Our progress so far proves that we can achieve more than was ever imagined as long as we stay focused, do the work, and continually engage our community in shaping a bright future for the Rice & Larpenteur area.
The work we do matters. We bring people together as neighbors, connect residents and businesses to opportunities, demand safe conditions and human dignity for all, invest in public spaces and demonstrate neighborhood pride and hope for the future. Rice & Larpenteur will look different in the years ahead. With reconstruction on Rice Street beginning next year and planning for significant transit investments, the question is not if change is coming, but how that change serves the people of Rice & Larpenteur now and for generations to
come.
I want to send my deepest gratitude to our Community-Based Advisory Board, composed of local residents, businesses and nonprofits, and government officials who have dedicated countless hours to the Rice & Larpenteur Alliance since we launched the Board in 2020. Without volunteer support and community dedication - the Alliance wouldn’t have the credibility to carry the vision forward.
We need you to keep the momentum going. Join us in building the future of the Rice & Larpenteur area!
