April Showers

April showers are sure to bring May flowers. I can assure you that spring is bursting all over our landscape. The gardens are growing, seeds have been planted, and the first blooms have arrived. Birds are loving the earth worms, frogs are leaping, and Palmer Pond is full of life. Earth Day is everyday here at Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve. Join us as we celebrate nature this season - grab an Allagash Pack and explore our nook of nature, enjoy a little bird watching while having lunch on the back patio, or hit the trail in search of an inspiring treasure or two. So much to discover, plan your visit soon!

Learning Through Nature

In our third year of hosting Greater Latrobe School District High School Interns at Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve, Breanna and Sarah enjoyed a warm spring day of birding to culminate their experience in animal care, nature programming, citizen science, and natural history with us this semester.

Our Saint Vincent College undergraduate students in education continue to shine as they practice lessons at our Wild Ones program. WPNR is a true learning laboratory for our students in education, science, and psychology. Dr. Stacey Nowikowski' s Field III class provides her students hands-on experiences designing lessons, teaching, and modeling education pedagogy with early learners. Each semester we welcome new college students working alongside our tiny visitors to this program and our Environmental Education Coordinator, Allison.
