Upcoming Teas

The tearoom is run by the high school students of the Career and Technology School. Our menu is:

  • Soup,
  • Salad,
  • Quiche, and
  • Three-tier tray with scones, tea sandwiches, and pastries.


A bake shop on site features a variety of food made by the students. The students always do a wonderful job both preparing and serving the tea.  


Mobility: There are no steps into the tea room.

Theme Tea - Needle Arts


Thurs., April 4 and Sat., April 6, 1 p.m.

Bring your needle arts projects (knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, counted cross stitch, etc.) to show members or to seek advice.


If you are not into needle arts (like Donna!) feel free to attend. You are welcome to stay and watch or leave after the tea.  


The five-course tea is served in the dining room, library, and sunroom. The food is prepared daily and all homemade.


Higinbotham's is one of the oldest homes in New Oxford and winner of the 2009 Historic Gettysburg Historical Preservation Award. The 1823 Federal-style building remains largely unchanged from its original form.


Built by banker John N. Hersh, the beautiful home has ceilings that rise to 12 feet, magnificent windows, working fireplaces, and a state-certified kitchen.


Mobility: There is one step onto the porch and another slightly taller step into the tea room.

This tearoom opened in 2004 and is owned by the mother-daughter team of Nancy Brown and Leann Watkins. Our Queen's Tea will consist of:

  • Endless pots of tea,
  • Chef's choice of soup or salad,
  • Scones,
  • Assorted tea sandwiches, and
  • Dessert.


Mobility: There is half-flight of steps into the tearoom.

The owner of this tea room is from England and serves a traditional English tea. It is located in a historical building in the college town of Elizabethtown. Consider driving by the campus on Colleges Avenue when you visit this tearoom.


Mobility: The back entrance does not have steps.

Annual Tea Luncheon

All the details for the Club's Annual Tea Luncheon will be in the Spring Newsletter, out in April, but we can say that we'll have a catered lunch, a silent auction, book sale, and a program.

International Tea Day

May 21 is International Tea Day, so make sure to check local tearooms for events. For example, Sweet Remembrances in Mechanicsburg will have a free tea and cheese tasting, starting at 1 p.m. to celebrate the day.  


Also, tickets for the annual PA Tea Festival held next door to Sweet Remembrances at The Rosemary House in Mechanicsburg, Pa. will be available through the Royal-tea Club starting in July.

Club Policies

NEW MEMBERS AND MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS

Membership dues for new members and for membership renewals are payable by Jan. 1 of each year.

Membership renewals

  • E-Newsletter + Annual Membership, $15
  • Mailed Newsletter + Annual Membership, $25
  • Late Fee: $5 will be added to any renewal received after Dec. 31, 2023 for 2024

New Member fee: $10, one-time only new member fee. (The charge allows the Club to purchase a magnetic name tag for individuals to wear at Club events.) Download the new member form here.

Magnetic Name Tag: $10/name tag.

TEA RESERVATIONS

  • Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Emailed reservation requests must be confirmed by the Club before they are considered accepted.
  • Due to the ongoing pandemic, please indicate members of your party when making reservations so we can assign seats appropriately to help keep everyone safe.
  • Do not send payment until your reservation is confirmed.
  • After a reservation has been made and confirmed, payment must be received by the Club within 10 days. If it is not received within that time frame, the reservation may be canceled.
  • In the memo line of the check, please indicate which tea(s) and date(s)) are being paid for.
  • Club events are closed 10 days before the event takes place or the date specified in the newsletter.
  • Due to the ongoing pandemic, please adhere to all current mask guidelines.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND

If you are unable to attend an event you have reserved, contact Donna Lerew as soon as possible at donnalerew@gmail.com or 717-741-2684. This will allow her time to contact the next person on the waiting list and you may receive a refund. Please, do not give your seat to another person in order to be fair to those on the waiting list.


REFUNDS

Payment for tea reservations is non-refundable, unless cancelled prior to the cutoff date posted in the newsletter or if someone on the waiting list can take the reservation.


Any money from a cancellation will be a credit that can be used for future events. All unused credits will be returned after the last event in December. No refunds or credits of less than $1 will be given.


GUEST POLICY

Guest fee: $5, which is added to the cost of the tea event. If the guest decides to join the Club, the $5 fee will be applied to dues for that calendar year.
