MEET DAVID MICHAUD
David joined the ARP team last summer as our new Sales Manager.

David is responsible for directing our sales team but he also works closely with our operations, marketing, and customer service teams with a primary focus on growing our business even further.
David also plays a major role as he works to strengthen our partnerships with our suppliers. As a distribution company that relies heavily on quality and consistency from our vendors, David keeps these ties strong to help us deliver high-quality products across the US.

Prior to joining ARP materials, he gained valuable experience in sales, sales management, operations, account management, and customer service in the automotive industry.
David with his wife, Melissa
He has really enjoyed applying his skills that he has developed throughout his career in his new role.

David explains, "I am very excited to have joined the ARP team and I’ve been so impressed with the knowledge, drive, and the sense of ‘team’ we all share here. We all work very closely with one another with focus on strengthening partnerships with our customers and suppliers, and always exceeding expectations. My phone calls and visits with our customers have all been so positive and everyone has welcomed me into this new industry. It's been such a great transition."

David is married to his wife, Melissa, and they have four children. As their kids have grown up and moved to different cities, they thoroughly enjoy traveling all over to spend time with them. David enjoys swim/bike/run and has completed numerous marathons and triathlons. As a huge fan, and proud Alumni of the University of Dayton, David is looking for a clinch to the Final Four!

PRODUCT OF THE MONTH
Flame Retardant & Smoke Suppressant Solutions

ARP Materials now supplies flame retardant and smoke suppressant products with the aim of enhancing performance and reducing cost.

These products are typically categorized into 3 types:

Vapor Phase Inhibition
This approach works by removing flammable gaseous chemicals from the burning plastic. Chlorine and bromine based chemicals and polymers are used as the active flame retardants.

Solid Phase Char Formation
Ammonium Octamolybdate is a benchmark product for smoke suppression in plasticized PVC. SD890 is a high performance, low cost reactive blend to replace AOM in a wide range of PVC applications. It is particularly suited to plenum rated PVC formulations.

Quench & Cool Systems
These products are typically selected for halogen free applications and work according to two modes. Release of water and endothermic decomposition. The water release reduces the temperature in the combustion zone, excludes oxygen and combines with soot particles to reduce smoke. The endothermic nature of the decomposition removes heat energy from the combustion process.

In addition, we offer the familiar single-chemical products: Antimony Trioxide, Ammonium Octamolybdate, Aluminium Trihydrate, Magnesium Hydroxide, Huntite / Hydromagnesite, Zinc Borate, Zinc Stannate and Zinc Hydroxy Stannate.

I NDUSTRY TRENDS & UPDATES
Chemical Prices
Acrylonitrile: $1,180.00/US Ton FOB US Port
It is an important  monomer  for the manufacture of useful  plastics  such as  polyacrylonitrile . Acrylonitrile is used principally as a  monomer  to prepare polymers such as  styrene-acrylonitrile  (SAN),  acrylonitrile butadiene styrene  (ABS),  acrylonitrile styrene acrylate  (ASA), and other  synthetic rubbers  such as  acrylonitrile butadiene  (NBR).

Butadiene: $859.80/US Ton US Gulf
A lso known as 1, 3-butadiene, Butadiene is a colorless, non-corrosive gas that condenses to a liquid. Butadiene is a by-product of ethylene and propylene production. This product is used in the production of Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR) and Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR).

Styrene: $779.99/US Ton US Port
Styrene plays an important role in chemical production to make latex, synthetic rubber, and other polystyrene resins. Styrene occurs naturally in small quantities in some plants and foods (cinnamon, coffee beans, and peanuts) and is also found in  coal tar . This product is used in the production of Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE).
Prices as of Feb 28th, 2020
Natural Rubber
Prices of natural rubber have been recovering since the second week of February, as stimulus measures launched by Beijing such as cuts in borrowing costs and reserve requirements eased investors concerns about the economic impact of the coronavirus in China, the largest rubber consumer. Rubber reached $0.59/lb on February 12th,
the lowest since November 2018. Since then, prices have been on the rise, mimicking the behavior of the Shanghai Composite, China's benchmark stock index. Today, the price is at $0.69lb/USD .

Crude Oil
Oil prices have been under pressure amid persistent fears regarding the economic fallout from the coronavirus outbreak and its impact on energy demand. US crude oil dropped 1.2% to $33.94 USD/BBL .
