Despite a disappointing loss, students enjoyed watching the Boston Celtics take on the Atlanta Hawks at TD Garden last month.

Optional Practical Training Information

OFF-CAMPUS EMPLOYMENT FOR F-1 STUDENTS
  • Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a period of paid employment that is directly related to your field of study. 
  • You must have been a full-time student for at least one academic year to be eligible.
  • OPT can be done prior to the completion of your studies (called "pre-completion OPT") and/or after you have completed your studies (called "post-completion OPT").
  • You are eligible for a total of 12 months of OPT per degree level (and in some cases an additional 24 months for STEM fields).
  • You DO NOT have to have a job offer to apply for OPT.
  • Authorized by the Immigration Service - there is a fee for the application and it can take up to 3 months to be approved.

Graduate Student Discussion Group

Our weekly discussion series for Graduate international students will continue this week from 1-2 pm at the Connors Family Learning Center in O'Neill Library.

This week our topic will be financial literacy. Members of Successful Start from BC's Office of Student Services will come to talk about topics such as managing your expenses, how to borrow and use credit wisely,  how to make smart money decisions and take control of your finances, practical money management strategies for budgeting, etc. 

This will be a very useful and informative workshop for any graduate student! Come with all of your questions!
