As you may know many arts organizations are having trouble with their business model.
We are no exception. Having managed to survive COVID quite well we have arrived at a difficult situation.
Prior to COVID we had an average of 10 people drop in to the gallery on a daily basis. Some bought something and some we just browsing but it was feet in the door. Since COVID we have been lucky if we have had 2 people visiting a week.
Oddly enough our classes have continued very well. But from a cash flow point of view that is not enough to cover costs that have risen astronomically.
Our basic operating costs have increase in 2023 by approximately $10,000.00. classes alone cannot carry that. So the Board has made a sensible business decision. We need working capital
In order to free up working capital, and slightly change course we are selling the building the gallery is in. With the proceeds we will rent a smaller space to provide classes.
We have learned since COVID that classes work whereas retail sales do not. People are NOT coming in and NOT buying art.
So we will change direction and focus on classes.
We hope you will continue to drop in to purchase gift items or items to enhance your home.
And please do continue to take the classes. You are the reason we keep going, so thank you.
