March 2022
Spring is in the air and our 3 Essential Community Practices (3 ECPs) are blossoming everywhere! It's been so affirming to see the racial equity learning happening in each other's lives through the #TBCRacialHealingChallenge posts some of you have been sharing. If you haven’t already, please visit any of our social media channels to get caught up and help move the conversation forward with a post of your own. In the meantime, read on to hear more about how our 3 ECPs are informing our programming along our 3 healing pathways (Youth Development and Leadership, Organizational Change, and Clinical Care).
TEEP is preparing an internal Youth Development and Leadership training where their Leadership Development Program (LDP) high school students will be trained in our 3 ECPs and other practices for success in their roles, and life. TEEP is also poised to increase LDP hiring, recently accepted as a grant partner with Successlink, Boston’s youth jobs program. While LDP employment is typically supported by TBC, this partnership increases TEEP's hiring capacity and is a first step toward their goal of employing LDP youth year-round. Applications are open for new TEEPers this summer – apply below today!
Trinity@McCormack continues to apply our 3 ECPs in their work at the McCormack school in new and exciting ways. Last month they deployed racial equity and identity learning in an exercise where youth identified current or newly discovered role models in the community. Students learned about the Black Lives Matter movement within the school system, researched other POC who have accomplished things they admire, and created artful posters of them. Afterward, they decorated doors at the school with their cool creations (sample pictured above).
OEP is wrapping the first phase of their newly launched, Community Practice Institute (CPI). Through CPI, youth serving nonprofits and their leadership are being trained in our 3 ECPs and other foundational skills for equity and healing within their organizations and communities. Participants have experienced 3 trainings thus far covering white supremacy culture, facilitation, and trauma inclusion. Phase I of CPI wraps tomorrow (March 30th) with a training on the Fundamentals of Facilitation -- click below to register your organization (or yourself) today and be on look out for CPI phase II details later this year.
