Spring Break Hours

Spring Break at Iowa State is March 13-17.


The Brunnier Art Museum and University Museums office will remain open with regular hours.


The Christian Petersen Art Museum and Farm House Museum will close for Spring Break.

Gather around the fireplace in the Farm House Museum parlor to hear Victorian fables, follies, and fairytales. Performer Tina McPherson joins Alisha Abner of University Museums to share stories children growing up in the Victorian era would have heard, but these stories are a bit darker than children’s stories of today.


This in-person program will be livestreamed on YouTube.


All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Words Meet Art

For Part 1 of Words Meet Art with Ames Writers Collective, participants will receive a guided tour of Harriet Bart: Material Alchemy to educate and inspire creativity. An introduction to “writing to writing prompts” with Ana McCracken, founder of Ames Writers Collective, will follow with writing sessions to connect writers to the exhibition.

Part 1 has two options and registration is required.

Glass through the Ages

John Hill, ISU professor emeritus of physics and a Quester, will discuss naturally produced glass followed by an examination of glass making from prehistoric times until the modern era. This program includes a reception.


In conjunction with the exhibition Reflections of Iowa: The History of Iowa Questers through Glass.
