Nancy Quint Schön Arts Scholarship

Application Deadline March 18!

Newton Community Pride offers three $1,000 scholarships to a Newton South High School senior, Newton North High School senior, and a METCO student attending either NNHS or NSHS with intention of pursuing the arts in higher education.


Please note that the deadline has been extended to March 18.

NCP's Celebrate Black History Month

This February NCP was pleased to partner with several local organizations and offered free, accessible, and well-attended Black History Month events to the community.  A big THANK YOU to our programming partners: The New Art Center, West Newton Cinema Foundation, Story Starters, Hummingbird Books, and the Street Chestnut Hill, The Harmony Foundation for providing sponsorship support and the wonderful participants and attendees who made our Black History Month events so successful!

Calls for Art and Poetry!

Picture Us! Newton: Deadline March 15

Newton Community Pride's public art initiative entitled Picture Us! is designed to provide lively, inviting locations for residents to take selfies and candid photos that will be shared via Newton Community Pride's online community photo album with the hashtag #PictureUs!Newton.


The deadline to submit your "Selfie Station" design for consideration by the Selection Committee is March 15. Visit our website for more information and to submit your design.

Haiku Newton 2024: Deadline March 20

2024 is the third consecutive year for the Haiku Newton project, bringing poems on lawn-style signs to various locations in the Garden City (Newton, MA), and the first year that Newton Community Pride has become the sponsoring organization.


Up to 24 poems will be selected this year and featured throughout Newton during April (National Poetry Month), May, and June.


The themes this year are Regeneration, Renewal, and Revisioning. For more information and to submit your work, go to poetrynewton.com. The deadline for submission is March 20.

Call for Musicians: PorchFest 2024

Newton PorchFest is an afternoon of free music performed outside of people's homes. We welcome you to a community event to share the joy of playing and listening to music.


Newton PorchFest will take place June 1st, 2024 from 12:00pm-6:00pm throughout Auburndale, Lower Falls, and Waban Center.

American Legion Post 440: 1st Wednesday Legion Blues Jam

Join the 1st Wednesday Legion Blues Jam with Newton's American Legion Post 440 as they perform a set with the incredible rhythm section of bassist Allie Picariello and the drummer Jerry Gordon. This open jam session will take place on Wednesday, March 6th at 7:30PM at The American Legion, Newton.


American Legion Post 440's 1st Wednesday Legion Blues Jam is a Fall 2023 NCP Community Micro Grant recipient.

Andromeda Belly Dance - Hafla 2024

Come see Andromeda's 6th Annual Spring Hafla, a multicultural showcase of dance ranging from MENAHT (Middle Eastern, North African, Hellenic, Turkish) to Asian, Balkan, and Eastern European styles. Join in on the fun on Saturday, April 6th at 7PM at Grace Episcopal Church, 76 Eldredge Street, Newton, for an evening of dance and music. Open to all. Tickets are limited and seating is reserved.


Andromeda Belly Dance is a Spring 2024 NCP Community Micro Grant recipient.
