Spring 2023 Scholarship Update

The Office of the Advancement of Research is proud to announce the impressive academic achievements of our faculty during the Spring 2023 semester. Our faculty have won numerous awards, and their research has been recognized and publicized in various media outlets.

We are delighted to announce that Professors Blanca Patricia Tovar and Lucia Trimbur have been selected to participate in the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program for the 2023-2024 academic year.

This program allows them to teach or conduct research overseas, engage in cutting-edge research, and expand their professional networks. Through this experience, they will build relationships with international colleagues that will help lay the foundation for future partnerships between institutions.

We are proud of Professors Tovar and Trimbur's accomplishments, and their selection for this highly competitive program is a testament to their hard work and academic excellence. We eagerly anticipate their return, where they will share their experiences and become active sponsors of international exchange.

Please join us in congratulating them on this incredible honor!

“I heard about the Cullman Center when I first began to think about doing a Ph.D., and the professor I hoped to work with was a fellow there at the time,” said McDougall, who will be The John and Constance Birkelund Fellow. “Now, all these years later, it’s an honor to work with the New York Public Library and utilize their amazing resources and experts in community with other writers and scholars."

John Jay Professors Jonathan Gray, Alexandra Moffet-Bateau, and Richard Ocejo have been selected as part of the new group of CUNY’s Black, Race, and Ethnic Studies Initiative (BRESI) Faculty Fellows.
