- 2008 St. Supery, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley, 90 pts., Wine & Spirits; $17.00: Here is a Sauvignon Blanc that will test the mettle of even the most ardent aficionados of the grape's pungent character. - 2008 Rudd, Sauvignon Blanc, Mt. Veeder, Napa Valley, 93 pts., Wine & Spirits; $50.00: The Sauvignon Blanc from Mt. Veeder comes from three different clones. Clone 1, the most traditional clone used in California, has classic acidity and structure, a Musque clone that delivers amazing floral aromatics and a special French clone 530 which has ripe melon and tropical notes and adds a rich viscosity to the wine. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
- 2007 Argyle, Chardonnay, Nuthouse, Willamette Valley, 92 pts., Wine Spectator; $39.00: Very bright aromas of white peaches, roasted hazelnuts, with blossom honey and a unique fresh roasted wheat kernel jump out of the glass. The flavor has a surprising concentration of white peach and hint of melon up front and in the juicy mid-palate, all tethered to an exciting Meyer lemon cool climate mineral backbone. A fresh-fruited finish is framed by delicious roasted hazelnut, vanilla, and key lime citrus long after the glass is emptied. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
- 2005 Brassfield, Merlot, High Valley; $19.00: Smells like cherry cobbler and new leather. On the palate it's soft and delicate with hints of coriander and sage to support the fruit. Small amounts of cabernet franc and petit verdot are added for structure and color. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!

Village Wine Cellar Features!
Cool California Whites
- 2009 Cakebread Cellars, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley; Was $30.00, Now $22.00: Wine & Spirits Magazine rated our 2009 Sauvignon Blanc as 'exceptional' with 90 points in their Year's Best issue June 2011. Here is what they have to say:"The first impression is round and supple, quieted by oak, then the wine turns a corner toward fragrant white cherry and apple fruit flavors. Tart acidity keeps it refreshing, ready to serve with pan-roasted sole and other white-fleshed fish."
- 2009 Peter Michael, Sauvignon Blanc, L'Apres Midi, Sonoma, 93 pts., Wine Spectator; $51.00: Bright, green-tinged gold. High-pitched, mineral-accented aromas of pear and melon, joined by sexy spicecake and floral qualities and a touch of sweet butter. Very fresh in the mouth, with lively citrus and orchard fruit character and excellent clarity. Weightier on the finish, leaving floral and mineral notes behind. This weighs in at 15.5% alcohol, but there's no heat.
- 2009 Peter Michael, Chardonnay, La Carriere, Knights Valley, 93 pts., Wine Spectator; $90.00: "A much more restrained La Carrire, yet rich, detailed and complex, offering a mix of melon, fig, apricot and hazelnut flavors that are elegant, detailed and persistent on the finish. Drink now through 2016."
- 2009 Peter Michael, Chardonnay, Belle Cote, Knights Valley, 95 pts., Parker; $90.00: "The fresh, lively 2009 Chardonnay Belle Cote (2,850 cases; 15.2% alcohol) exhibits abundant floral and tropical fruit blossom notes intermixed with notions of poached pear, honeysuckle, oak and earth. The complex aromatics are followed by a medium-bodied, elegant, fresh, lively white that should keep for 6-8 years."
- 2009 Kistler, Vineyards, Chardonnay, Sonoma Mountain; $73.00: The 2009 Sonoma Mt. reveals noticeable acid levels along with notions of white peaches, nectarines, honeysuckle, brioche and crushed rock. Made in a full-bodied, impressive style with wonderful acidity buttressing the wine's sizeable weight, it should drink well for 5-7 years. This wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered and may therefore develop a natural sediment during its evolution. To prevent the formation of this sediment by filtration or other means would interfere with the natural aging process of the wine and diminish its ultimate quality.
- 2006 Rudd, Chardonnay, Bacigalupi Vineyard, Russian River Valley, 90 pts., Parker; $50.00: This Rudd Chardonnay comes from the Bacigalupi Vineyard, situated on the benchland along Westside Road in the fog belt of the Russian River Valley. Displays classic fruit with mineral and toast aromas highlighted by a floral quality often found in old Wente clone selections, a round mid-palate with complete malolactic richness and a long finish.
- 2008 Pahlmeyer, Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast, 95 pts., Parker; $75.00: "The 2008 Chardonnay reveals a greenish hue to its medium straw color as well as a super-intense nose of mandarin oranges, quince, white peaches, and hints of brioche and earth. Full-bodied with good underlying minerality, this crisp, elegant, fresh white wine is another superb effort from a winery that has a Midas touch with Chardonnay."
- 2008 Donelan Family, Venus, Rousanne & Viognier, Sonoma, 94 pts., Parker; $55.00 : If you could drink delicacy, this would be a close representation. This wine with its aromas of beeswax, lily, and freesia, is complexly flavored but without the overbearing weight of a typical Roussanne. Dancing, delicate, and fresh, we hope this to be another wine that is irresistible to uncork.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
