Climates of Inequality: Stories of Environmental Injustice
Starting on July 12th at the Arizona Heritage Center in Tempe, Climates of Inequality: Stories of Environmental Justice will be showcased until the end of December. This exhibit explores the impact of environmental injustices in Phoenix and 21 other communities around the world. With environmental concerns like water access and rising temperatures growing more critical throughout the Southwest, this exhibit exposes the roots of current injustices and addresses how past inequalities can inform future solutions in the fight for environmental justice.

It's Swimsuit Season
A dip in the pool is the perfect way to cool off during these hot summer days! The Arizona Heritage Center and Arizona History Museum both have an array of swimsuits in their collections that we are eager to show off. Throughout the month of July, we will be featuring swimsuits that date from the early 1900s to 1970 on our social media platforms. Be sure to follow along to learn more about each of these swimsuits.

A College Down There: Higher Education In South Phoenix
Monday, July 11th
7-8 pm (AZ/PT)
Virtual
Join us for this FREE virtual program as recent Journal of Arizona History author Summer Cherland will discuss higher education in South Phoenix, an area that has often been stereotyped and misunderstood. Despite an explosion of college enrollment after World War II, South Phoenix was consistently ignored by county officials and people in other parts of the Phoenix metro area. Cherland recounts the struggle by South Phoenix activists to establish a college “down there” and to improve the lives of the South Phoenix community.
