Spotlight On: Neu-Life Youth Get Prevention Tips at CADCA Conference

A group of youth leaders from Neu-Life Community Development headed to Dallas in July to attend CADCA’s 22nd Mid-Year Training Institute to pick up the latest substance use prevention tips and strategies to implement in the community. With help from a mini-grant provided by RISE Drug Free MKE, the group, accompanied by Neu-Life Executive Director Jody Rhodes, picked up these bits of wisdom:

"You have to align missions with others when working together," Ayanah D. said.

"Just be yourself when meeting and inviting people to be a part of your events."

After a session on social media, Idaliz J. said, "Not all adults think social media is bad. Some think it connect us to each other and all types of resources."

Cortrell M. noted, "Social media affects the development of youth brains in the form of memory loss, loss of sleep, and performance in school."

After a workshop on leadership, Cortrell M. said, "Communities are built and changed by the people in it. Lead by example, inspire and change."

We're glad that these youth leaders were able to attend this CADCA conference, and we’re looking forward to seeing how they help to lead, inspire, and change Milwaukee.
