Could we restart the Fabulous Biker’s Club?
We are looking for leaders to take over the planning and organizing. Next ride could be BHI, Wrightsville Beach, Oak Island, Carolina/Kure Beach, or anywhere, but BHI is always a great choice. Please contact Debra Charpentier here OR J. Taylor Ryan here OR both.
A Fall Bike Ride could be next. Carolina and Kure Beach with a great lunch was well attended and enjoyed in June. Please let us know you will help organize, plan, and join us for the ride. Thank you.

This past week, Bob Paterson represented St. James and Brunswick County in the NC state championships of the Senior (aka Gator) Games for bocce. Having qualified by winning the gold medal for his age group in April during the Brunswick County games, Bob was invited to play in Raleigh with a chance to qualify for the national championships. The match format was best 2-of-3 games with the winner of a game being the first to 7 points or whomever was ahead after 5 ends (innings). Bob came out fast in the first round by handily winning his first game 7-0. Unfortunately, he lost the next two games, including a 3-2 nail-biter in 5 ends. In the playoff for 3rd place, it was a similar story. Bob started strong by winning the first game, but lost the second game followed by another nail-biter loss in the third game, 4-3. It should be noted that Bob also qualified to compete in the cornhole competition, where he had the misfortune to play the gentleman who finished second last year at the national championships. Kudos to Bob for representing our bocce community!
St. James Bocce administers a 1-on-1 bocce 'ladder'. A 'ladder' is a competitive list of players who challenge each other to matches with the goal of rising to the top of the list. To sign-up or for questions email us here.
