Ladies Round Robin Results
20 women gathered for our September Round Robin on a warm Sunday afternoon. Anne Robertson and Lisa Toomey tied for the top honors. Not only did Lisa give Anne the gift card, she also helped to get the round robin organized and started. Thanks Lisa! Our next ladies round robin will be held on October 16th from 2 - 4.
Men's Round Robin Results
We got lucky that the rain stayed west of Rt. 17 and got our Men's Round Robin event completed on September 11th. As usual, we had 20 players on 5 courts, rotating over 6 rounds, with a different partner each round. Despite the sticky, hot weather, we had some very fine tennis. Joe Raiti was the runaway winner, with new player Bill Baxter in 2nd.

Jimmies
The Jimmies improved their record to 3 wins and 1 loss by taking two games from Team USA last Tuesday. Chuck Ott and Rodney Mull combined to pitch the Jimmies to a 15 to 7 win in the first game. Jay Cole, Craig Errington, Merl Baldwin and Steve Tien had two hits apiece to pace the offensive output.
Roger Albizu pitched seven strong innings, but it was the Jimmies’ defensive effort that secured the 12 to 7 victory in the second game. Throughout the game, the Jimmies struggled to score runs but Tony Rollins and Mull provided the punch that was needed. They each had 3 hits and combined to drive in 6
runs. Next up for the Jimmies will be the 2 and 2 Bandits next Tuesday, September 27th at Lockwood Folly Park. First game will begin at 9:00 am. The Bandits will pose a tough challenge for the Jimmies as both teams try to keep pace with the Bombers who stand atop the league standings at 6 wins and 0 losses.

In Memory of Walle
A moment of silence was held prior to the second week’s matches to honor and pay tribute to our friend and fellow bowler Walfred Johanson, a.k.a. Walle, who unexpectedly passed away on July 21. Walle was one of our founding league members back in 2005. He will be missed, but not forgotten. May he rest In peace.
Doug Voegtlin and Rich Plant continued their hot hands from week one. Doug had the night’s second high scratch game (216) and third high scratch series (559), while Rich had second high scratch series (564). However, the evening’s top honors went to John Lanoue of the Alley Gators for high scratch game (228), high scratch series (596), and third high handicap game (259) and handicap series (689). And first time substitute Chip Hartman surprised everyone but himself, rolling a 554 series including a 210 game, helping team X-Men roll the night’s high team scratch game and high scratch series and into a tie for first place. Other distinguishable series and games were bowled by Tom Propst-534(201), Tom Green-532, David Matthews-531(202), Mark Zaenglein-521, Dennis Mancinelli-517, Dick Schondelmeier-515(210), Jack
D’Ambrosio-508, Madis Smit-507, Jim Sieberkrob-505, Bill Doody-503, Bret Sigillo-501, and ‘missed it by that much’ Bob Eichhorn-499, which included a 214,the third high scratch game of the night.

Could we restart the Fabulous Biker’s Club?
We are looking for leaders to take over the planning and organizing. Next ride could be BHI, Wrightsville Beach, Oak Island, Carolina/Kure Beach, or anywhere, but BHI is always a great choice. Please contact Debra Charpentier here OR J. Taylor Ryan here OR both.
A Fall Bike Ride could be next. Carolina and Kure Beach with a great lunch was well attended and enjoyed in June. Please let us know you will help organize, plan, and join us for the ride. Thank you.
