Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!

SJTA Fall Team Tournament - 6.5 Division
The 6.5 Division Winners were Karen Kontoulas’ Smart Aces, who prevailed by winning 3 of their 4 team matches. There was a 3-way tie for second place with Ted Stepens’ Net Minders, Kim Cesareo’s Team Aces and Lisa Toomey’s Sock It Toomey, each taking 2 team matches. Juan Fernandez’s Tiebreakers rounded out the competition with one team match win. Congratulations Smart Aces: Karen Kontoulas, Steve Zaharak, Laura Kogler, Kim Sniffen, Claudia Barnett, Ed Messmer, Susan Kozub, Valerie Pease, Liz Sullins, Amy Dunn, Art Solomon and Mark Wilson.
SJTA Fall Team Tournament - 7.5 Division
|
The 7.5 Division Winners were Patti Pelton’s Penn Ball Wizards, who were undefeated in team matches winning all four of their contests. Not far behind were Maggie Roberson’s Red Raiders, who prevailed in 3 of their 4 matches. Rounding out the field were Meg Coco’s Grand Slammers with 2 match wins, Debbie Bailey’s Racket Scientists with 1 match win and finally Jerry Klawitter’s Double Trouble, who fought hard but came away without a win to show for it.
Congratulations Penn Ball Wizards!: Bob Ames, Kevin Daly, Patti Pelton, Phyllis Sheets, Mike Osborn, Pat Stephenson, Diane Alleborn, Jim Alleborn, Cheryl Matsche, Tom Coco. Not pictured: Jan Peiler and Peggy O'Connell.

Meissner 6.5 Men's 55+ Combo
|
Back Row: Dan Hicks, David O'Dell, Jeff Walker, Mike Osborn, Neal Montany, Dean Wilson, Co-Captain Mike Bisconti, Gary Milner, Scott Dotson. Front Row: Kevin Fowler, Tim Robinson, Tom Coco, Captain Joe Meissner, Bob Murphy, Scott Seal. Missing: Brian Grozbean
Although the team's 6.5 combo SET league record was 14 wins, one loss, many victories were ten-point tie breaks or comeback nail-biters, evidence that this group will tough it out when it counts. It was a long season with a great bunch of talented players.
The NC State Championship tournament saw more of the same, competitive matches. The team narrowly lost the first match before reeling off four straight wins, losing only two courts in four matches. The team will compete in the Southern Sectionals being held in Mobile, AL on December 1-4.

Holstein / Klocke 7.5 Men's 55+ Combo
|
Pictured L-R: Ted Wesson, Jeff Watts, Tim Reilly, Mike Holstein (co-captain), Jerry Klawitter, Mike Breen, Steve Hovarth, Ken Klocke (co-captain), Richard Hughes and Dennis Werner. Not pictured are Dan Hicks, Gary Milner and Cliff Zoller.
The 7.5 Men’s 55+ Combo team went 4-0 in pool play and entered the semifinals of the 2022 NC State Championship as the #1 seed. In pool play the team had 10 individual wins to two losses including a 2-1 win over METRO, the team from Charlotte that knocked them out of the tournament last year. However, METRO earned the #4 seed and once again knocked them out of the tournament with a 2-1 win in the semifinals.
The team finished the regular season with a record of 11-1. The team had 29 individual wins to 7 losses and won 211 or 69.5% of games played during the regular season.

Holstein 7.5 Men’s 65+ Combo
|
Pictured L-R on the porch of Pine Valley Country Club are: Mike Holstein (captain), Scotty Seal, Cliff Zoller, Jeff Walker and Richard Hughes. Back row from left to right: Kevin Daly and Ted Wesson. Not pictured are Andy Elsea, Norbert Hobrath and Cliff Howard.
The team finished second at the 2022 NC State Championship this past weekend with a record of 2-2, one set shy of winning the championship. In four “short set” matches (due to rain) they finished with a record of 72 games won vs 61 games lost. By comparison the 3-1 champions from Raleigh won 73 games but lost 68 games. Special mention goes to Cliff Zoller and Jeff Walker who went 4-0.

November Mixed Round Robin Results
Mixed Doubles Round Robin Tennis was held on November 13. Very competitive tennis led to a cliffhanger result (kind of like Only Murders in the Building, but nobody was murdered, fortunately!). Once again, we had 20 players, ten of each gender, enjoying sunny, cool Fall weather. On the ladies' side, Renee Shaefer moved out to a big early lead, then held on at the end to win, squeezing out a one game victory over Lisa Toomey. For the men, Tim O’Connor had a big early lead, but was passed in the last round by Ross Lively. Tim and Ed Messmer tied for 2nd, with Tim winning in a dramatic, one-point playoff. Thanks to all who played, and to Karen O’Connor for helping run the event.

St. James Men's Bowling League

The St. James Bocce league completed its fall regular season on Sunday with two very competitive matches and seeding for the playoffs at stake. In the opening match, the first place Bocce Blasters captained by Nat Scaccianoce took on third place Rolling Thunder captained by Jerry Klawitter. Playing short-handed, Karen Del Sordo won two games on Court #1 for Rolling Thunder. Court #2 saw the dynamic duo of Rob Faulkner and Bob Paterson flip the script and take two of three for Bocce Blasters. Court #3 saw Jerry Klawitter and Kathy Kunze split the first two games, including a come from behind 9-8 thriller. But in the end, Captain Nat and Paul Tracy prevailed to win the third and deciding game for Bocce Blasters thereby sealing their 5-4 win and the #1 seed for the playoffs.
In the second match, second place Roll On led by Captain Ed Boyers squared off against fourth place DeBoccery. Court #1 saw Ed and Sue Boyers take two of three for Roll On. Meanwhile on Court #3, Konrad Reinis, Dan Diehl and Rob McKinley also took two of three for Roll On. Court #2 saw the combination of Mike and Jean Ross and Don Amaya take the first two games for DeBoccery including a 9-8 nailbiter. However, in the deciding game, Phyllis Falkenstein and Lou D’Abramo reversed the momentum to win the final game of the day for Roll On and clinch the 5-4 win.
Playoffs will start with the semi-finals on Sunday December 4th when Bocce Blasters will take on DeBoccery, followed by Roll On versus Rolling Thunder. Good luck to all the teams!
The final regular season standings are:
