Special Edition: APS Facilities Master Plan Details, Important Dates and Next Steps
Facilities Master Plan & the Midtown Cluster
The Facilities Master Plan (FMP) is a multi-year effort by Atlanta Public Schools (APS) to address capacity and facilities in the district. On March 2, the APS Board of Education received a comprehensive overview of capacity, growth, and facility utilization throughout the district, and recommendations to address these issues.
The Midtown Cluster has been faced with the challenge of overcrowding at many of the cluster elementary schools, and in Midtown High School. The Midtown Cluster also has the opportunity to utilize the Inman building in 2023-2024 after the Morningside renovation is complete and Morningside returns to the campus on East Rock Springs.
In the March 2 Board meeting, the FMP consultants recommended two scenarios for the Midtown Cluster elementary schools, both involving some rezoning of Morningside Students
Scenario #1: Inman Building becomes a new K-5 Elementary School in the Midtown Cluster
Scenario #2: Springdale Park Dual Campus (Springdale Park is a K-2 and Inman Building is 3-5)
