This year’s ceremonies included nine candidates who were the first to be awarded doctor of education in leadership degrees at WP. Approximately 865 students were awarded master’s degrees.
Whether serving as a tutor in the Dorothy Hennings Writing Center, mentor for the Black and Latino Male Initiative, or leader with Brothers for Awareness and the Black Student Union, Dockery has inspired countless Pioneers.
Nicole Bariso '24 returned to school after 30 years to earn her bachelor's degree in nursing. She hopes to advance in her current nursing job and also teach aspiring nurses someday.
“If you make a goal in your mind and you stay focused on that, nothing can stop you. I feel like nothing could have stopped me from being here and graduating with my cohort,” says Sama-Barreto, an elementary school principal.
