August is: FAT LIBERATION MONTH!
Check out our latest social media post!
August is National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance’s (NAAFA) Fat Liberation Month. So, what is fat liberation? Fat Liberation is a movement to combat the biases fat folks face in society. Its mission is to move beyond the mere tolerance of fat bodies and promote radical, systemic change.

  • Fat liberation is about promoting equity across all aspects of life for fat folks.

  • Fat liberation combats and entirely rejects diet culture. Note: If you are a therapist that promotes weight loss, you are causing harm.

  • Fat liberation reclaims the word "fat" and aims for liberation from size discrimination through legislation, research and treatment, fat representation in media and art, just to name a few.

So, this month, say the word "fat" and inspire people to join us in the fat justice movement. Saying "fat' destigmatizes the language about who fat people are. Let's celebrate fatness and unapologetically identify as who we are! Let's actively work to dismantle weight stigma and anti-fat bias!
