SPA Test Calendar

January 18, 2024

Today in our newsletter we are highlighting one of our many job fairs and events that will be held over the next few months as gear up for next year and beyond. This start of our hiring season seems a perfect time to pay tribute to those dedicated educators – our SPA teachers - who pour into our children daily.

It is the responsibility of all who have charge of young men and women to be more concerned with what will benefit children rather than what will please them, lest we engage our students in temporary fickleness and folly rather than engrossing students in purpose and principle. One of the greatest gifts we can give young people is that of expectations and our teachers push students to realize more of themselves than they ever thought they could.

A school can be defined by its physical building, but it is the teachers inside this building that seek to inspire their students and point them toward things worth learning. And it is THIS interaction which gives our school life. Ideas pursued without shepherds can be risky. Our teachers have come from all over the country as committed scholars, to be a part of something special and to serve as tour guides, escorting our students towards truth and beauty and goodness.

Placing great people and educators in front of our students is a difficult task and one that we do not take lightly. This challenging task is made more so because of a remarkable curriculum and educational philosophy takes a special sort of soul to illuminate. What we do here at Scottsdale Prep is difficult. But it is also fulfilling and joyous and ennobling and absolutely worth it. I am privileged to work each day with these virtuous and talented educators and friends. I am humbled each day by the minds I encounter, the examples of wisdom and virtue, and the disposition of our teachers to use their remarkable talents in service of our students and the future of our society.

Sincerely,

Mark McAfee

Headmaster

24/25 SPA School Calendar DRAFT

Here's the link to the draft version of the 24/25 SPA School Calendar. Please note that this is a draft version and we are waiting for an approval.

We are Hiring!

Great Hearts is hosting three Hiring Events on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 (9:30-11:30AM) to connect those interested in working for Great Hearts (for mid-year or 2024-25 openings) with Headmasters from across the valley. Headmaster McAfee and other admin will be recruiting at the north valley event at North Phoenix Prep. As members of our community, you uniquely understand the special qualities we are looking for in prospective staff members. Many of our best hires come through family and friend referrals of those who are in our community and understand what makes it special. Please think of your networks and consider sharing information about these hiring events, as well as information about Careers In Great Hearts. We appreciate your referrals as we hire for 2024-25.
