Scott Peppers

Painted Tin Folk Artist

Employing solely recycled materials such as tin and wood, Scott Peppers brings to life his charming creations: roosters, fish, mermaids, scenes, and more, all adorned with playful polka dots. As a self-taught folk artist from Banks County, Scott humorously remarks, "I put polka dots on everything." Before diving into his imaginative pieces, each tin undergoes a meticulous cleaning and sealing process.

Cheryl White

Weaving

Cheryl's love for weaving is apparent in each carefully woven piece. It is important to her that her art is not only aesthetically pleasing but functional. By combining a variety of fibers with traditional motifs, she creates unique, timeless, and beautiful household pieces that will last for years to come!

Bernie Moore

Turkey Caller

Bernie Moore of Athens began designing turkey calls over 10 years ago for friends and fellow hunters. Through dedicated classes, he shares his expertise in scouting and hunting wild turkeys with both youth and adults. These meticulously crafted calls are handmade from native woods.

Bits of History From Our Building's Past For Your Information

The beautiful historic building that now houses Genuine Georgia was once the home of Chandler’s Drug Store. It was one of three full-service drug stores in downtown Greensboro for many years. Kendrick, Chandler’s granddaughter, lives three blocks down South Main in the Chandler Homesite and is in charge of the Greensboro Main Street Program. Since history is such a significant part of the draw to our store, we are continuously searching for stories, photos, and furniture to add to the mix and share with the public daily. We have been able to secure one of the glass and wooden cabinets that housed candy when the drug store was open. It now showcases Cheryl White’s beautiful fiber art, including towels, runners, and baby blankets. Corey Crouse, an avid lover of Greene County History, said it all: “History is made new daily in Greensboro!” So true, and we look forward to sharing these tidbits with you each month in our newsletter!
