Greetings from the farm!   August has been a big month for Southern Reins as we kick off our 16-week Fall Session! This will be our largest session to date, serving 90+ participants in lessons with more than 120 volunteers shifts needed weekly. Cooler temperatures are on the horizon, and we are looking forward to hosting our 2nd Annual Southern Supper at Memphis Hunt & Polo Club on Saturday, October 14. Hello Fall Session!

Our 16-week Fall Session began on August 12, and we are so excited to have so many returning and new participants and volunteers back at the farm. This session we will serve more than 90 participants in Adaptive Riding, Occupational Therapy incorporating Hippotherapy, PATH Intl. Equine Services for Heroes, Unbridled Horsemanship, and Silver Stirrups programs. With our Making Strides Recreation Therapy and TEACH Program, we anticipate serving up to 150 individuals this session!

August wraps up our annual Hay for a Day campaign, but there is still time to support the amazing team of therapy horses at Southern Reins Center for Equine Therapy with your sponsorship of HAY FOR A DAY. Donate $25 for Hay for a Day, $50 for Hay for 2 Days, $175 for Hay for a Week, $350 for Hay for 2 Weeks, or be a HAY HERO with a gift of $750 for Hay for a Month! Welcome Buffy and Betsy to the Farm We would like to give a huge thank you to Lexus of Memphis for helping us seal the deal on a great 2018 Toyota Tundra truck that we have affectionately named Buffy. We also purchased a brand new Shadow 2-horse trailer this month named Betsy. We are thrilled to have these great additions to transport our horses for off-property visits!

BeeHive Homes of Collierville Pony Pals Visit Our UK Shetland Pony, Clyde, loved his Pony Pals visit to BeeHive Homes of Collierville last week! He enjoyed getting to know all of their residents. Our Pony Pals program allows these sweet interactions which spark joy, positive memories, and comfort for those who cannot visit our farm. We hope to see you all again very soon!

New Run-In Sheds for Our Pastures If you are visiting the farm, you might notice two new covered sheds in our pastures! These wonderful additions will keep our horses dry, warm, and ready for the fall and winter seasons. Basie loved checking out his new house and we know he will enjoy putting it to good use with his best buddy, Benny.
