Business Spotlight

The Golden Lion Committed to Stars & Stripes Honor Flights

1709 Rawson Avenue

"The Golden Lion is a small, cozy sports bar where everyone can feel welcome the moment they walk in", says owner Joe Miklaszewski. He has owned the bar since 1984 and in 2017, with the help of his children Tony and Brenna, he wanted to start running a fundraiser near and dear to his heart, a mini-golf pub crawl benefitting the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight (SSHF).

Every year since then (except 2020) they have had at least 9 South Milwaukee taverns participate. The event has been growing, with 300 golfers participating in 2023 along with 10 local businesses. The day is spent golfing at each bar and ends at Pat’s Oak Manor for dinner and raffles.

On October 23rd they presented a check for $19,255 to SSHF, bringing the 6-year total up to $78,999.25!

Stop by to grab a drink and a bite to eat, check out game scores on 9 TV's (but don't be surprised to see a game show on during the day), and connect to neighbors. Want a bit more activity and camaraderie? Then join a Dartball or horseshoe leagues.
