September is Here!
There’s something about September! Summer is winding down, school has started, and there’s a new season upon us.

September is also SELF-CARE month and we think that taking care of yourself is a great idea! So this month we’re providing lots of tasty tidbits and easy, affordable ways to keep you and your loved ones eating healthy, feeling pampered and hopefully delighted! From our unique snacks and recipes, fun back-to-school projects, and ways to make the most of some me-time, we think we’ll have what you need to just say “aaaaaah!”

Our Expanding World of Citrus
BIG NEWS! Limoneira’s One World of Citrus™ just took a giant leap forward! Limoneira and Wileman Bros. & Elliott, a 95 year-old operation focusing on oranges, mandarins and specialty citrus, have joined forces creating a new One World of Citrus™ Alliance. This exciting news, according to Harold Edwards, CEO of Limoneira, allows Limoneira to expand its citrus offerings under the One World, One Team, One Service model, simplifying transactions with all retailers while allowing Limoneira to grow its offerings and overall volume as well as be able to offer more service to customers. Although both companies will be combining their volumes and service together, each entity will still maintain their unique, current brands (and packaging) while expanding their overall portfolio of exceptional citrus they may offer. This is great news as all of us enthusiastic Limoneira customers will have so much more to enjoy! Read the full Press Release here.

Limoneira's Latest
Despite the challenges over the last year and a half for not only Limoneira but so many other fresh produce companies, Limoneira President and Chief Executive Officer Harold Edwards explains how there’s actually been an increase in Limoneira’s volume by 1.5 million and how our fresh utilization has never been better.

“Despite the challenges, there is anticipated growth from the supply-side as foodservice recovers while retail maintains that growth. In that, it is important to remember that it is not enough to have any single aspect working to make that happen—at Limoneira we need the whole team to work together to see the success that we are achieving, and I believe we will continue to achieve,” says Harold Edwards.

No fresh produce company is immune to the challenges of the pandemic, yet we continue to achieve and continue to grow as we press forward. We’d love for you to learn more about how Limoneira has made â€œlemonade” out of these unparalleled industry challenges, navigating the market uniquely and successfully, continuing to provide for our retail customers and the public through our One World of Citrus™ model. Sustainability Update
Did you know that lemons have both male and female flowers that work together to pollinate themselves? And, did you know that each lemon tree in our Ventura County growing region blooms 5x per year? That’s a lot of growing lemons on each Limoneira tree, which means Limoneira crews are always in the fields, picking away! Plus, lemon trees’ lemons will be found all at different stages of growth at any point in time. So, at Limoneira, you’ll see 20 crews constantly picking throughout the year, with each crew having 20 – 25 people. That’s a lot of activity in the orchards, and this is happening all the time!

Fun fact - lemon trees have thorns on them! That’s why we don’t shake the trees to pick lemons, because those thorns could damage them, so instead we pick (or clip!) each lemon right at the stem. That makes them perfect for your picking them at the grocery store! There’s so much more to know about our trees and orchards, so hear more from Stewart Lockwood, Director for Field Operations at Limoneira, in our latest video from our friend Gail Kvistad at Living Local! Watch the video above!

What in the World?
With it being BACK TO SCHOOL, we thought you’d appreciate some crazy facts! There are approximately 33 million elementary school children in the U.S with 17 million kids attending high school. Plus there are 8.8 million little ones in nursery schools and kindergartens. If you’re including college students, that’s about 78 million kids heading back to school every fall! What about those in charge? Well, there are about 8 million teachers in the U.S. going back to school, too!

And, what about those school buses? School buses have been around since 1915 (as long as the automobile), but the official color of bright yellow wasn’t adopted until 1939. And, we at Limoneira think that yellow was a perfect choice!

Across the country, there are approximately 480,000 registered school buses, taking 26 million children to and from school every day. By eliminating the need for each parent to get their own kid to school, school buses help keep an estimated 17.3 million cars off the road every year, saving 2.3 billion gallons of fuel. Don’t forget about our own Limoneira school buses, which take both our farm workers and community children to school, too!

It is pretty unbelievable how going “back to school” is such a huge ordeal! For more fun and crazy ‘back to school’ facts visit here: https://bluewatercredit.com
