Dear EEO Bahamas Supporters,

In recent months, we've cultivated new partnerships, promising monumental change for the Family Islands, aimed at creating opportunities for more children with learning differences. Following EEO's meeting with the Minister of Education, our vision for inclusive special education/literacy programs on other Family Islands is taking shape after two decades of dedication.

πŸ‡§πŸ‡Έ Stay tuned for exciting details in our upcoming Impact Report, a testament to your generosity and our commitment.

Meanwhile, this summer, we're teaming up with other nonprofits to extend our Reading camps across Eleuthera, spanning over 7 settlements. Our creative, project-based approach ensures students thrive. Your support plays a vital role in shaping brighter futures.

With gratitude,

Lang

Community Connectiο»Ώons

Inspired by our collaboration with the Ministry of Health, we're organizing open hearing screening clinics. Recognizing the importance of addressing even minor hearing issues that could impact learning, we're committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive. This collaboration embodies the integration of health and education, fueling our mission to make a lasting impact on Eleuthera and Harbour Island communities.

Volunteer Highlight

My time at EEO

 by Lida Kuhn

"When I was younger, school was a challenge. I struggled, feeling different, and my confidence suffered. With support, I learned new study methods, and it changed everything. Interacting with EEO kids on Eleuthera meant a lot to me. I believe EEO's work is crucial for Bahamian education's future. A supportive teacher can truly make a difference in how someone feels about school and learning. Seeing the students' faces light up with accomplishment was amazing. I hope to hear about all the great things they do in life!"

Success Story

Benita, part of the EEO program in 2016, faced hearing struggles detected during a screening. With EEO's support, she addressed her hearing challenges and regained confidence making immediate academic strides. She graduated, worked at Arthur's Bakery, then pursued nursing school in Dallas. Now, Benita is a year away from returning to her community with a nursing degree, a testament to the transformative impact of support and determination.

Making a difference through MUSIC

Music has a profound impact on children. It can unlock their minds and inspire learning. Our visit with jazz musician Steve Koven, renowned for his performances at the All That Jazz festival on Eleuthera, was amazing. His enthusiasm and connection with the students were awe-inspiring, and we're eager to bring him back.

Check out his video Literacy Inspired by Music showcasing his last visit and help us come back next year to share his magnetic energy and talent.
