Tailwinds to Retirement!

Our beloved LCS Inland Northwest Advancement Manager, Christie McKee, is retiring after 24 years at LCS!

Many of you have participated in our 8 Lakes Leg Aches bike ride (Christie's favorite event), have joined us for the Chocolate & Champagne Gala, or have met with Christie one-on-one at church or over coffee. She is a friend, a colleague, and for many of us, she has become like family. Her impact on the Spokane community has been immeasurable.

Please join us as we celebrate her career in helping others.

Advocacy & Education Program

171 Clients | 365 Calls to 24/7 Support Line | 14 Hospital Responses | 322 Service Hours

The Advocacy team welcomed Erin "Po" Popelka as a part-time mental health clinician.

Po will provide mental health services for sexually trafficked survivors (or those at high risk) as part of a recently-awarded OCVA grant.

A unique and positive aspect of this project is that mental health services provided via the Advocacy program are subject to privilaged communication and require no ID or insurance, reducing barriers for survivors seeking help.

The Advocacy team has begun in-service training with the Spokane Police Department, teaching a variety of topics including the Neurobiology of Trauma.

Kudos to LCS Advocates Hannah, Gabi, Joanie, and Megan for presenting to Whitworth University student athletes about safe, healthy relationships and available advocacy services.

Special thanks to Whitworth University for arranging this education for all student athletes!

Advocates are hosting ongoing support groups for Lumen High School Students.

The team is also collaborating with On Track Academy to explore offering a similar support group on campus.

We offer FREE psycho-educational support groups. Groups are an effective tool in giving hope and providing support, validation, connection, healing, and empathy.

Upcoming Groups:

  • Teen Sexual Assault Survivors
  • Adult Female Sexual Assault Survivors
