Tony Purcell is the instructor for the training class. Tony is not only a green builder and licensed contractor in Athens, who specializes in renewable energy products such as solar water heating, he is also a LEED AP and is certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners as a Solar Thermal Installer. Tony has designed and installed multiple systems for different applications. Tony is a graduate of Georgia Tech with a bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree, and State University of West Georgia with a B.S. in Physics.

We would like to invite you to our next solar water heating installer training class on May 26, at Power Partners, Inc. in Athens GA. If you know someone who may benefit from the information, please pass along this email.
The class outline and objectives can be found by clicking here. The class includes a hands-on workshop where you will participate in installing a mock system. You will mount collectors on two different types of roof coverings, assemble the solar loop including: pump, heat exchanger, expansion tank, and all the valves and gauges of a complete system. The solar loop will then be checked for leaks and the flushing and filling process will be demonstrated.
The class is great for anyone interested in becoming a solar thermal installer or wanting to include solar thermal installations in their business such as: contractors, plumbers, roofers, or HVAC techs. The class will provide a basic understanding of solar radiation and its uses, and how to apply and adapt manufactured solar thermal systems to capture, store and use solar thermal energy.
The class content is based on the NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) task analysis. Class participants (registering for the certificate)will be provided a data disk filled with content for further study and education in the solar thermal field.
