In July, Massachusetts welcomes you with fireworks, cookouts, concerts, festivals, culture and plenty of adventure. Discover why this is the perfect place to celebrate Independence Day by exploring our illustrious history. Visit our 78 coastal cities and towns and stop for a lobster roll or homemade ice cream at the beach. Enjoy our amazing outdoors, including white water rafting and hiking along our rural byways, especially the iconic Mohawk Trail in western Mass, an ancient Native American route noted for its scenic beauty.

Downtown North Adams the Place to be! Eagle Street Beach Party! Visit North Adams on Saturday, July 15th – they don’t need an ocean to have a beach! More than 250,000 pounds of sand will be spread - curb to curb - the entire length of Eagle Street. The family-friendly beach party runs from 3:30 to 6:30 pm and the adult-oriented theme event will take place from 7 to pm. The 11th Annual Motorama event welcomes all things motorized on Sunday August 27th. Join as cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors, snowmobiles, and more line the streets of downtown, transforming it into a metal wonderland of bright colors, chrome, and machinery. This event includes raffles, door prizes, music, food & shopping. All proceeds benefit local charities. Cruise in concert on the 26th at Joe Wolfe Field complex!

MetroWest

July is a great time for an outdoor concert—and MetroWest Boston has a lot of them! Pack a picnic and come jam at Oakland Park Medway on Mondays; Hopedale Town Park, Sherborn Library, Neary School Southborough, and Stone Park Ashland on Wednesdays; Natick Cultural District and Union Common Marlborough on Thursdays; Bellingham Town Common, Franklin Town Common and Framingham Center Common on Fridays; Hopkinton Town Common on Sundays…and more! Nantucket

North of Boston

Blueberry & Flower Fest will be held July 15–16 and July 22 –23 at Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury! Celebrating all things blueberry and wildflowers, this festival includes live music, outdoor hard cider bar, family-friendly activities, hayrides, food truck specials, homemade blueberry treats, cut-your-own flowers and pick-your-own blueberries. The Atlantic Ocean serves as the perfect backdrop on July 21–23 for Misselwood Concours d’Elegance, one of the most scenic concours shows on the East Coast. Just a few days until one of the most anticipated annual traditions south of Boston: July 4th in America's Hometown, Plymouth, MA! Events include the 8th Annual 4th of July 5K Race, July 4th Parade, Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra Concert and Plymouth Waterfront Fireworks Display! Southeastern Mass

See the world’s largest floating maritime museum and get onboard one of several historic vessels at Battleship Cove in Fall River! History has never been this accessible for you and the family. Southeastern Massachusetts is so close to home you’ll be here in no time. Memories for a family getaway, or a romantic outing by the ocean. It’s all right here waiting for you. The Berkshires

Summer’s here, so why not visit a Berkshire ski resort? No, there’s no snow, but there’s also no shortage of exciting events! Catamount Mountain is showcasing a Friday music series, and you won’t want to miss its Thirsty Cat Festival on July 22-23. Enjoy craft beers, ciders, wines, food, craft vendors and 5 bands! Bousquet Mountain has a full schedule of live music on Fridays and Saturdays, and is excited for Bousquet Mountain Day on July 22. Enjoy the music of Whisky Treaty Roadshow, and an Outdoor Recreation Summit as well food and beverages throughout the day! Greater Merrimack Valley

The 36th Anniversary Lowell Folk Festival, a staple cultural event of the region since its inception in 1987, will take place July 28-30! The 2023 festival will feature close to 20 performing groups sharing their unique musical traditions on stages throughout downtown Lowell. The Lowell Folk Festival attracts more than 150,000 people for three days of music, food, and art. For a full line-up, click here!

Central Massachusetts

Celebrate America's Independence in Central MA: On June 29th, catch the Worcester Fireworks featuring live music by Cara Brindisi! July 1st through 4th, head to Old Sturbridge Village (kids are free!) for holiday events like cannon demonstrations and parades. July 3rd enjoy a free Massachusetts Symphony Patriotic Pops and Fireworks Concert at Institute Park. And round off your celebrations at a Worcester Red Sox double-header at Polar Park on July 4th, which finales with fireworks.

Franklin County

Have you visited the iconic Bridge of Flowers in Shelburne Falls? This old trolley bridge was abandoned in 1929 and now showcases hundreds of flowers and shrubs blooming in a riot of color and fragrance over the picturesque Deerfield River. Curated by the Blossom Brigade and the Bridge of Flowers Committee, this landmark represents community creativity at its finest! Take a stroll across and stay in town for the arts and eateries in downtown Shelburne Falls.

Greater Boston

Boston Harborfest, an enduring Boston tradition, returns June 30-July 4, celebrating Boston’s rich maritime history and seminal role in the American Revolution. With hundreds of activities happening across Boston at historic landmarks, Harborfest is a fun and family-friendly festival that is one of the country’s largest and most iconic 4th of July events. Activities include reenactments, orations, boat tours, live entertainment and tours of the Freedom Trail.

Cape Cod

Hydrangeas are the signature flower of Cape Cod, and the annual Cape Cod Hydrangea Fest will celebrate these beautiful blooms at their peak! Tour some of Cape Cod's most spectacular private gardens during the 10-day summer garden celebration, happening July 7-16. In addition to 70+ garden tours benefiting local nonprofits, highlights include workshops by leading international horticulturalists, promotions at participating nurseries, and painting demos by renowned local artists. Western Mass

The Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival takes place on July 21-22 in the streets surrounding Stearns Square in downtown Springfield! Western Mass comes alive during this free festival as people from all generations and walks of life congregate outdoors to relish in the jubilant tunes of jazz, blues, gospel, funk, Afro-Cuban jazz, salsa, and more performed by renowned musicians. The Jazz & Justice Speaker Series plays a critical role in this event as it dives into the musical history rooted within culture, while also delving into topics such as racial equity and environmental justice.

Hampshire County

Soak up the summer with a great outdoor music series: in Northampton, the new Bands on Brewster series brings Thursday concerts to a sidewalk stage at Northampton Brewery! On Fridays, stroll over to Masonic Street Live to keep the party humming (and come back on Sunday for salsa lessons with McCoy Jamison)! Starting the weekend early? Summer on Strong features live music every week Wednesday through Saturday! In Amherst, the Jazz in July All Stars series brings the tunes all month, culminating in a Town Common concert on July 21. North Central Mass

July begins with a bang, as local communities launch a month of celebrations. Fireworks in Pepperell and Fitchburg will set the tone for Independence Day festivities. See fire trucks, marching bands and more at parades in Harvard and Pepperell, and at Fitchburg’s annual Civic Days bash — complete with a block party, cannon firing, and amazing rubber duck race! Want more excitement? Join Gardner in celebrating its 100th anniversary on July 22 on the Mt. Wachusett Community College campus!

July is peak summer on Martha’s Vineyard!
