APTA CT President Message

Dear Members,

Thank you to all that attended a very successful Annual Meeting and Fall Conference at

the University of Hartford. It was great to see many of you in person and to address the

membership with some face to face interactions instead of over zoom. We had a fantastic day which included an amazing Kathy Harris Keynote Address by Kyle Covington. The topic surrounding moving forward with baby steps was incredibly fitting. As we know, baby steps are anything but small or insurmountable. They are big, brave, celebratory, scary and often times mixed with failures and small bumps and bruises; but like babies, we get ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and try again. We are surrounded by a support system and encouraged with the journey and milestones. The presentations by our colleagues were amazing and truly monumental in the advancement of our profession and our careers. I look forward to next year’s already!

It’s November! Which means the holidays are coming upon us, and so are elections!

The ballot is now solidified and our elections are open. Please go to our website and cast your vote for the next leaders of your association. We look forward to another year of growth. If you know of anyone who may be interested in the call to serve, please feel free to write them in as well.

The year is coming to a close but our work will continue. We will look to host our next

leadership engagement retreat in late January, early February before Combined Sections

meeting. We will have some new leadership to complete our orientation and hopefully some great processes in place to continue our successes. I wish you all a fantastic Holiday season no matter what you celebrate. I’m also looking forward to seeing pictures and hearing stories surrounding our giving back to our communities. My clinic is doing a winter clothing drive!

As always, please let me know if there’s anything we can do to support you. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Stefanie Bourassa President, APTA CT

PT Service: Trail Days

Hoping to get involved in a meaningful community event with fellow APTA members?

The Tolland Conservation Corps has recently begun a town project at the Wanat Senior Conservation Park that will work to improve access to the trails and gathering area to make this an ADA compliant location to enjoy nature. They are looking for volunteers on November 19th at 117 Sugar Hill Road in Tolland, CT to assist with marking and widening the Silo Trail. Much work has already been done to create a star gazing patio that is now accessible, with Star Parties scheduled throughout the fall. There is no registration required, volunteers are asked to simply arrive to be part of the project, the anticipated working time will be from 9AM to 1PM.
