Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed the holidays with family and friends. Now that 2024 is here, you may request residency verification through existing Town records. Greenwich residents need to verify residency for 2024 prior to registering for any Recreation activities. Registration for spring activities will open on February 1. Registration for the 2024-2025 Cos Cob Community Preschool will open on January 15.


Information on preschool, ice skating, the Snow Sculpture Contest, tree recycling, and activities at Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center are found below.


The Parks and Recreation Office at Town Hall is CLOSED Monday, January 15 in honor of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Except for Town holidays, the Parks and Recreation Office at Town Hall is open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. We encourage you to make an appointment between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Most business can be done online. Office staff are available by email; feel free to contact us.

Food Drive


Recreation Supervisors Andrew Karen and Lea Clark, along with friend Rudolph (middle of picture) delivered non-perishable food to Neighbor to Neighbor, The food was collected at Town Hall, the Parks and Recreation Office, the Hamill Skating Rink and Bendheim Western Civic Center. In addition, an online food drive raised 401 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables for N2N. Photo Contest Winner

Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink

Registration is now open for the 2024 Greenwich Town Skating Competition which will take place Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink. Detailed information is found in the Skating Competition Brochure. Applications must be completed online through EntryEeze by January 20, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.

Cos Cob Community Preschool

54 Bible Street, Cos Cob


This preschool program, licensed by the State of CT, is for children who are 3 years-old by September 1, 2024, 4 year-olds, and children turning 5 after September 1, 2024. The preschool mission is to provide a safe, happy, fun-loving environment in which children can learn and grow. Children must be fully toilet-trained when they begin preschool. Families may enroll children for three, four, or five days per week. Registration opens online January 15.

Snow Sculpture Contest


Greenwich Recreation is again hosting a Snow Sculpture Contest. Throughout the winter season, create your best snow sculpture and submit a photo for a chance to win a prize from Greenwich Parks & Recreation. The contest is open only to Greenwich residents and the deadline to submit photos is Friday, March 1, 2024

Christmas Tree Recycling


The Department of Parks & Recreation will be accepting Christmas trees for recycling from December 26 to January 31. All trees to be recycled must be undecorated (remove all ornaments, tinsel, lights, tree stand, etc...). The Parks & Trees Division recycles the trees by chipping them. The wood chips can be used as mulch or compost. Click here for tree collection sites.

Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center

Beginning in January, BWGCC will be hosting Co-ed Drop-in Volleyball on Monday evenings through March. Also, Drop-in Pickleball will resume in January. Pickleball players should take note of the definitions of skill levels prior to dropping in for play. Adults can attend Zumba with Ruthie on Saturdays, email Ruthie. Join a Boot Camp Class with Get-Fit Glenville LLC. 120 BPM is offering CPR and AED certification classes; email 120bpmllc@gmail.com. Membership is available for ages 18 and older at the WGCC Weight Club.



Beginning in January, a new program Art, Movement & Mindfulness will be offered for ages 4-7. Also, Look Who's Talking is providing language development classes for babies up to 24 months. Jumpin' Jams is providing music classes for little ones. Just Wee Two has classes for ages 8 months through 3.5 years. Registration is open for season 15 of The Dance Pointe classes. Jack Rabbits Gymnastics will hold classes Friday mornings. Youth sports classes at BWGCC include Greenwich Stars Basketball and Tri State Thunder Basketball; for information email Coach Juricek.

Withdrawal Policy for Recreation Activities

other than Day Camps


Credit requests for recreation activity registration will be considered if received in writing prior to the start of the activity. There is a $20 administrative fee per section for credits. The general policy of the Recreation Division is that we do not process refunds unless a program has been cancelled. Please read all registration information carefully and contact us prior to registering if you have any questions. Should someone withdraw from an activity after it has begun, the credit will be pro-rated based on the time remaining in the activity when the withdrawal is requested.
