Coach Karen's Strength Training Tips
Last time I talked about some of the reasons why strength training is important to include in your training. Remember when running, the body expends energy to not only move forward, but also to stay upright, balanced and absorb forces from ground reaction; this is where having muscle over cardio comes into play.
You do not have to spend a lot of time lifting, keep your focus on these main areas - squat, lunge, hinge, push, pull, carry/ core. Think major muscle groups and do not skimp on a warm up and cool down just like your run.
