It's Time to Stand in
Your Personal Power!
| |
|
“Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women.”
Maya Angelou
This is International Women’s Month, and we celebrate women, leadership, and personal power. Who are the women in your life who have inspired you? Who have you inspired yourself? Have you mentored other women or girls, even without knowing it?
One of the women who has inspired me is Dolly Parton. A few years ago, I visited Dolly’s hometown, Sevierville, Tennessee. This is when I heard about her Imagination Library, which is a book-gifting program that mails out free books to children from birth to age five all around the world. Even though she came from humble means, Dolly knew her dreams would come true someday. She saw how books could help children achieve their dreams.

Don't Give Up on Your Dreams -
They Just Might Surprise You! | |
By Katana Abbott, CFP®
SWE Founder
I started working in financial services in 1987; right about the year 2000, a woman came to me and posed an interesting idea. Peggy, like many others, had lost money in the technology crash of 2000 and asked if I would manage her money while she went to volunteer with the Peace Corps. As she shared her idea, I agreed to help her.

“I could fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings.”
Bette Midler
Every day we can be the wind beneath someone else’s wings simply through the words we choose to speak.
It’s a big responsibility. It’s a bigger opportunity.
