From the Ground Up: NASA Harvest and Kenyan Partners Lay Foundation for Crop Yield Insights Across East and Southern Africa, there persists a critical gap in available crop analytics - specifically, a lack of robust and readily available field data collection to support model development, evaluation, and validation. NASA Harvest teams up with regional partners to build a consistent ground dataset for regional yield assessment to help fill this gap.

First Openly Available High-Resolution Crop Map of China Developed by UMD GLAD Lab Researchers with the Global Land Analysis and Discovery (GLAD) lab at the University of Maryland have published the first openly available 10-meter resolution maps of maize and soybean crops across China. The GLAD team has developed an operational workflow allowing for the creation of publicly available, high resolution, annual crop maps for the country.

GEOGLAM Crop Monitor Releases Special Report on El Niño Anticipated Impacts on Agricultural Yields GEOGLAM has released a Special Report on the anticipated impacts of the upcoming El Niño on global agricultural production. Expected to reach its maximum intensity in late 2023 and continue through early 2024, El Niño will impact regional precipitation patterns and agricultural yield outcomes at the regional and possibly global level.

As always, the meeting serves as an opportunity for scientists, policymakers, students, and organizations to connect and discuss leading research in the field of Earth science.
