Explore hospitality in all forms with "Emmanuel Living!" - Pastors who serve small-membership churches encounter many unique challenges as they seek to educate, inspire, and lead their congregations. Understanding that these challenges require a particular insight, the Wee Kirk Conference aspires to provide opportunities for small church leaders to receive Christ-centered instruction and support specific to their context. During this conference, participants will find themselves surrounded by other professionals serving the church in similar capacities and will receive vital guidance on how they can focus their ministry through engaging track sessions. Track Options - One of the key components to Wee Kirk’s programming is its track system. Conferees each choose a single track that they will participate in for the duration of the conference. These tracks are based on specific scenarios that leaders of small churches frequently encounter. Read the summaries of each track below to find one that interests you! Barnabas Track “The Pastor in a Secular Age” Being a pastor is no easy task in our time. In this track, Rev. Dr. Andrew Root will encourage participants to go beyond the symptoms and explore why many pastors find themselves in an identity crisis. Note: This track option begins on Sunday evening. Biblical Track “Reclaiming the Book of Revelation for Worship and Faith” In this track, Dr. Christopher Holmes will explore some of the most important themes in Revelation hoping to equip pastors to preach and teach on this important writing.
Creative Worship Track “Exploring Worship that’s Welcoming!” Rev. Burns Stanfield will facilitate an exploration of worship as a way to engage hearts, build community, and practice faithful living. Leadership Track “Making Room at the Table” During this track, Rev. Dr. George B. Thompson Jr. and Rev. Dr. Beverly A. Thompson will help participants identify and practice ways to extend hospitality and generosity to those outside the walls of their congregations. Mission Track “Missional Hospitality” Join Rev. Herb Codington, Rev. Ray Jones, Lewis and Elsbeth Codington, and Elizabeth Codington, RN, along with several missionaries who have served in other cultures, as they unpack the biblical concept of hospitality.
Spiritual Formation Track “Nine Spiritual Styles: Understanding and Caring for God-Given Diversity” Rev. Dr. Martha Friz Langer and the Rev. Dr. Mark Friz will help participants explore various "spiritual styles” and identify spiritual practices that allow each style to receive and express their faith. Retreat Track Many people come to Montreat’s Wee Kirk Conference simply to enjoy the fellowship of other believers in the beauty of Montreat. To encourage this, we have created a special “retreat track” that includes all the worship and plenary presentations, but does not include participation in a structured track. Instead, use this time for personal prayer, recreation, and spiritual renewal.
