Camp DEM
Northwest Georgia middle school students spent a week on the campuses of GNTC, DSC, and the NWGA College and Career Academy to attend the 7th Annual Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing Camp.

Counting first-timers and return campers, the DEM camp hosted 135 middle school technology enthusiasts June 5-9. With the help of college instructors and former campers from area high schools, these young men and women were exposed to areas of expertise such as: Rapid Prototyping, Electronic Circuit Boards, Laser Design with 3-D Imagery, Programming Industrial Robots, and Flooring Design.

Career Academy Graduates Serve As Flooring Apprentices
The Northwest Georgia College and Career Academy recently awarded flooring industry credentials to eight graduating seniors who have satisfied the requirements of the Advanced manufacturing and Business Academy program.

Collectively the students have worked in a manufacturing company totaling almost 7,500 work hours. They have demonstrated strong technical skills, the ability to follow instructions and learn from mentors, and strong communication and teamwork skills. Many of these students are currently enrolled in college or are planning to attend college - demonstrating they can juggle college and career.
