Pump Gun Shoot
February 26th

The Pump Gun was designed and introduced in 1893 by John Browning, and had revolutionary features, style & handling abilities.

This year we had a great turn out of shooters! The use and enjoyment of the good ole Pump Gun is still going strong.

Congratulations to Jason DeJong who was the winner with a HOA of 109/120. Jason is pictured here with his daughter Julia, who he was shooting with today.

There was a shoot off between Jason DeJong and Allan Duan.
Great Shooting to both of you!

Farwell to Bob
It is with heartfelt sorrow that we say good bye to Bob Ferguson. Bob was a long-time member, Instructor and guide here at Silver Willow. He held a very special place in our hearts. Bob's true passion was sporting clays as a competitor and especially as an instructor as he found great joy in sharing his love of the sport with others. He spent countless hours here at Silver Willow and was one of the Alberta's top shooter! Bob was constantly developing his skills striving to be the best he could possibly be. His great personality, sense of humour and willingness to Instruct new shooters, as well as guide and share his passion for shotgun shooting, was a blessing to all of us here at Silver Willow. He will be deeply missed by everyone. Bob passed away suddenly on Feb13th 2022.

Welcome Anne
Hello! I’m excited to get to know and serve the Silver Willow community as Events Coordinator. A bit about me….my family emigrated from Ireland when I was young, and I spent my formative years growing up in Calgary.
Our family moved to the Carstairs area to raise our 3 preschool children almost 17 years ago! My two older children have moved out, and my youngest is about to graduate from High School. Life is bittersweet indeed.
I have enjoyed working, teaching, and volunteering in Mountain View County for many years. I am now firmly a country girl at heart and love this part of Alberta.
Silver Willow is a special community in addition to its unique shogun sports facility, I’m eager to learn and participate in this sport soon. I look forward to meeting and serving the members and corporate partners for this upcoming season. My thanks to all of you that have given me such a warm welcome to Silver Willow!
Introduction to FITASC Sporting

Josh has graciously agreed to set up an “old style” parcour on the blue course during the
weekend of April 23 and 24. We are doing this to give folks a chance to see the game of FITASC
Sporting up close, but outside of the competitive setting. That is to say the layout will be run like you will find at a World Cup or a Gran Prix event, but it will also include assistance from the referee and even some coaching for those who would like the help. At a big competition, you can expect no help from the officials. During this demonstration, we will provide as much help as we can. We want this to be fun and educational at the same time.

If you are curious and have 20 minutes, Ed Solomons, a FITASC World Champion, has a decent video on YouTube at Click the link below.

BLOG Article - Luther Cutts

Author: Luther Cutts, Head Instructor (NSCA Level 3) and shotgun competitor

Care for a firearm is an important enough topic to warrant its own chapter in the Canadian Firearms Safety Course.  There are several reasons for this – proper care and maintenance will ensure the firearm is in good condition the next time it is put to use, and it will help maintain the investment in the firearm.  Cleaning the firearm helps the owner/user retain their familiarity with the firearm, and it can reveal potential problems before they manifest themselves are big issues.  It is far better to find a lose or cracked part when cleaning than to loose it while shooting, or have it break and leave you with a non-functioning firearm.
