Every week, we will use fun drama exercises, costumes and funny props to develop listening, body language (showing how your body changes if you feel sad, happy, scared, excited...) and our voice! The last class will be a show of all the skills we have learned.

Funny or Die--NEW Comedy Acting Class!! | |
Wednesdays, May 4-June 15 from 6:00-8:00pm |
Funny or Die is a comedy video website created by Will Ferrell and other comedy wizards that combines user-generated content with original, exclusive content. The site is a place where celebrities, established and up-and-coming comedians and regular users can all put up stuff they think is funny. That means viewers get to vote on what videos are funny and what videos deserve to die.
In this exclusive Sol Acting Academy class, created and taught by Laura Mathis, Owner of Sol Acting Academy, this 7-week class is designed to be a comedy and performance showcase for actors, wanna be comedians, and folks that just like to have fun and make a fool of themselves! Using training techniques Laura studied at the famed Comedy headquarters; Second City, in Chicago, the first week of class will cover all aspects of Comedy; what's funny, why it's funny, and how to write and perform comedy material.
Each week after that every student needs to come in with at least 3 sketch ideas (don't worry, it's easier than you think! Sort of) as we cast each other, improvise, and fine tune the sketch idea over the next few weeks. The last 3 classes will be the filming section, where we will shoot in the studio and on location to get our comedy brilliance recorded and edited. It's a class where Acting for Camera meets Improvisation meets Comedy Sketch writing!
After the 7 weeks, the videos will all have been posted on Funny or Die, and also on Sol Acting Academy's Youtube and Facebook page for the entire world to watch! Each actor gets an edited copy of all sketches to use for a demo reel or to prove to your mom that you are indeed funny.
Who should take this class? YOU. Why? Because comedy is one of the most difficult genres to both write and perform...and the excitement and thrill that comes from making someone laugh...there's nothing like it in the whole world. So if right now you wouldn't use the words Excitement and Thrill to describe your average week, it's time to do something that makes you a little uncomfortable. Register today!
Ages 18 and up
Cost: $199.00 (plus applicable tax) this includes free Demo Reel of every scene once class is completed. Please see below for payment plan info!
