An Incredible Weekend in Lake City

What a fabulous weekend it turned out to be, bringing thousands of patrons to Lake City to enjoy the festivities. A special thanks to our very generous sponsors, planning committee members, City of Lake City staff, and hundreds of volunteers! We are humbled by the amount of support…We really just couldn’t do it without you. It was such a joy to see all the smiling faces around town enjoying the car show, carnival, arts and crafts, parade, food vendors, water ski shows, live entertainment and more. We love seeing our community come together for this very special weekend in Lake City and we look forward to starting planning for 2024!

While staff recovers from the long weekend (and year of planning), enjoy this short monthly newsletter featuring some pics of the fair and reminders about a couple upcoming events.

First, A Huge Thank You to Our Sponsors and Volunteers!

About the Fireworks...

After much discussion and consideration, this past January the Lake City Chamber of Commerce announced the difficult decision not to host the fireworks in 2023. This news was included in a lengthy article in the Graphic, on our weekly Chamber Chat broadcasts on Lake Hits 95, as well as in communications to members.

At strategic planning meetings in December 2022 the Board of Directors chose to focus more energy on its members, community development, and other key events that support our businesses and local economy.

All efforts were made to find a new local organization to inherit the planning and fundraising work that goes into the fireworks display, including a pledge to assist with this work in 2023, but no other group expressed interest. The Chamber made multiple phone calls, sent out emails, and held a number of meetings that seemed promising, but ultimately we could not find an organization willing to take this on. If, in future years, there is a group which desires to host the fireworks, our offer still stands to share information and contacts, as well as help with fundraising.

We understand that there will be some disappointment with this decision. However, the Chamber looks forward to continuing to support Lake City through their work on so many other local projects and events, and are humbled by the support the organization consistently receives from the community in return.
