Message from the MCRA Chair

As Mayor of Margate and MCRA Board Chair, I am thrilled to share exciting news about the upcoming events that will fill our Margate with joy this holiday season. Due to inclement weather, we are postponing the Winter Festival for Tuesday, December 19, 6-10 p.m. at the corner of Margate Boulevard and State Road 7. This family-friendly event will feature activities for all ages, including live music, food vendors, real “Florida-style” snow, arts and crafts, and pictures with Santa. Margate is truly a special place, especially during the holiday season.

Shop Locally to Support Small Businesses

This holiday season, remember to shop locally and support the small businesses in the MCRA and the City of Margate that are the heartbeat of our community. MCRA Grant Program Still Accepting Applications

The Margate Community Redevelopment Agency is still accepting applications for its Program Improvement Grant Program for eligible properties within the MCRA boundary. Property owners can receive 50% reimbursement grants up to $750,000 for commercial properties and up to $10,000 for individually owned single-family, condominium, and multi-family homesteaded properties.

Amnesty Program for Unpaid LBTRs

Effective now until Thursday, February 29, 2024, the City of Margate offers an Amnesty Program for unpaid or pending in-review Local Business Tax Receipts (LBTR). If, for some reason, you opened a business and did not get an LBTR, you have this limited opportunity to bring your business into compliance and receive a waiver for all late fees – but only until February 29, 2024.

MCRA & City Receive 2 Davey Awards

The MCRA and the City of Margate have been recognized again for their exceptional communication efforts with residents and businesses. They have received two 2023 Silver Davey Awards for the videos “Is There a Ghost in the MCRA?” in the general social video category and “What We Are Thankful for in Our Margate” in the campaign series category. The Davey Awards honor outstanding creative work from the best small shops worldwide.
