Sharing our wealth of arts and culture. We're having an ARTS BLAST!

Promoting The Arts & Arts Councils Everywhere

Notes from the editor:
It's that time of year when I remind readers, wherever you are, to shop local, shop the arts, and shop with love. For Arts Blasters up north, out west, across the pond, or maybe even in space -- Lots of local arts groups, non-profits, and small businesses have online shops, so you don't have to be physically on the Treasure or Space Coast to support them!

Arts Blast on the Air
Arts Blast on the Air is more than an audible version of Willi Miller's Arts Blast, as you'll discover when you click on a show link. The weekly podcast and radio show offers interviews with people active in the arts locally, regionally, and nationally. The addition of an early-release downloadable podcast is an exciting step for Willi Miller's Arts Blast and it would not be possible without our great sponsors, Riverside Theatre and Ballet Vero Beach, collaborator Donna Roberts Mitchell, and tech guy, Jesse Kriske. Thanks for listening! CATCH THE PODCAST ONLINE. For information on advertising in Arts Blast on the Air, contact Donna.

John Ryan - Vero Beach Art Village

Trees at the Annex!

The pandemic has made Riverside Theatre's annual Festival of Trees tradition impossible for two years but some community artists have stepped up to fill in the hole in our calendars.

One of them is Bobbie Matus, who won't be decorating her own Vero Beach home this Christmas. Once again, she had her tree decorating fun at the Vero Beach Club Annex & Gallery for the silent auction that will help raise funds for Riverside Children's Theatre.

The artificial trees are 7 1/2 feet tall, and ready for pickup after the auction. Matus said she works on the trees for nine months, beginning right after Christmas. "I have to come up with a theme every year, something that club members will be able to decorate and paint. With the help of a volunteer I search for designs related to the theme and do cut outs to hand out at club meetings. This year with the theme fantasy garden I was able to buy unfinished birdhouses to give out."

Holiday Nights Opening Night

This year's theme is "Holidays Under the Stars" and will incorporate elements of nature and the outdoors. Holiday Nights will be open Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, but closed Christmas Day. Through January 2, guided Holiday Tradition Tours will be offered at 6 and 7 p.m. every night or visitors can meander at their own pace on a self-guided tour. Guided Inside-the-Homes tours will be offered on December 1, 8 and 15 at 6:30 p.m. for a special up-close look at the homes' decorated interiors.

Call Me Crazy ...

From The Barn Theatre:

Recapture the remarkable magic of Patsy Cline on the Barn Theatre stage through the sensational, melodic voice of Heather Simsay, a soprano with extensive professional and musical theater background, with an amazing vocal range, and a dynamic singing style.

“Always Patsy Cline” portrays Patsy's career and close personal friendship with Louise (played by veteran actor Sandi Hellstrom-Leonard). Both became lasting pen-pals until Patsy's tragic plane crash which took her life at the tender age of 30. But Patsy's music and her joyful friendship with Louise live on in this wonderful musical tribute to Patsy. And in the process, you'll get enjoy 27 smash hits, including Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, and Walkin' After Midnight.
Help the Barn cover costs to improve and expand its outside lobby. Tickets are now on sale for only $30. Student discount rates are available.
