Slight (Hopefully) Comics Delay 
New comics in later Wednesday.
Again, hopefully.


Because of weather conditions in other parts of the country, it looks like there's going to be a slight delay in this week's new comics.  Boo!  Hiss!  

The good news is, we're pretty good about counting them and getting them out quickly when UPS drops them off (we've had practice.)  So look for the go ahead on our Facebook and Twitter to know when the comics are ready for you to pick up!  Otherwise, you'll have to wait around or waste a trip, and that's a bummer.


Last Weekend! Weird Girls Book Drive
January 31st - February 28th
 
 
We're partnering with our friends at the Weird Girls channel in creating a book drive to benefit the Dell's Children Hospital!  Throughout the month of February, we'll be accepting donations of brand-new comics and graphic novels for kids and teens.


Michael Moorcock Signing @ Austin Books

We're thrilled to be joined fantasy/ science fiction luminary Michael Moorcock for the release of the graphic novel adaptations of his Elric of Melnibon� novels.  It's an honor to once again host the author, who has had such an important role in influencing entire genres and generations of creators.

In addition to signing, Moorcock will be the subject of a Q&A with our friend, editor/essayist Rick Klaw.  Maybe we can get him to read a passage, as well?  Either way, you won't want to miss this chance to meet a writing legend!


STAPLE! Independent Media Expo
March 7th & 8th


It's that time of year where we celebrate the indie creator!  STAPLE! Independent Media Expo is in their eleventh year, and we've been a proud supporter since the first one.

This is going to be an especially great year for STAPLE!, because the guest list reads like a who's who of awesome female creators!  You'll have the chance to meet:

* Lumberjanes artist Brooke Allen and co-creators Grace Ellis and Shannon Watters

* Co-artist/designer of the new Batgirl, Babs Tarr

Have your books reserved to be picked up at your convenience with the Austin Books & Comics pull list.  They will be set aside under your name until you are ready.

You're not obligated to buy the books you ask us to save.  Just want to check something out?  Afraid if you wait it'll be gone?  You can maintain the same Austin Books stress-free shopping experience without being on the hook for something you just wanted to review.  We only ask you decide to purchase it or put it back in a two week period after it's pulled.

This pull service is meant as to assist you in your weekly comic purchases, not to replace your shopping entirely.  If you do not stop by to pick up comics out of your bag within a three week period, we'll contact you and give you another week to pick up your books.  After that week, the comics go back out.

You can also use the link as a printable checklist - check the boxes for books you're interested in and click the "Create Printable List" button at the top right of the page to produce your own shopping list.  This feature will help you to not miss any books while still allowing you to select your own copies from the shelf.
 
A Note About Purchase Limitations 
It's our ongoing goal to have the comics you're looking for.  Comics are ordered over a month in advance, and we don't often have the opportunity to reorder sold out issues.  Though you may see many copies of a series on a shelf, we have hundreds of customers to look out for.

We understand the need some folks have for a reading copy and a copy to keep nice (though we still reserve the right to limit to one per person if necessary.)  If you'd like to buy more then 2 copies of single issues, please pre-order them with us when you see the issue available in Previews magazine.  Ask us how! 
 

What's Shipping?  

This list includes all product shipping this week from our Distributor, and though we order the vast majority of what is offered, we do not receive everything (with a particular note towards t-shirts, statues and toys). If you have interest in any of those items, we do special orders.  Just ask!

Thor Annual #1 features three stories about three Thors from creators CM Punk and Rob Guillory (Chew), Noelle Stevenson (Lumberjanes) and Marguerite Sauvage and Jason Aaron!

O and her crew encounter the Cyclops in ODY-C #3.

See the fallout of Spider-Verse and what it means to Peter Parker and the rest of the Spiders in Amazing Spider-Man #15.

Now the eleventh god is here, and it's time to party in The Wicked + The Divine #8.

The invasion of Earth begins with the creatures from the Franklinverse as well as corrupted versions of the heroes from Heroes Reborn in Fantastic Four #643!  Surely you know what this arc is leading up to by now... it's not a big Secret.

Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' Criminal is now at Image, and they're celebrating with a 48-page special!  It's 1976 in Criminal: Special Edition, and Teeg Lawless is doing 30 days in county jail.  All he has to look forward to is the beat-up comic his dead cellmate had.

A better future awaits and is only one evolutionary update away in Uncanny Avengers #2.

Low #6 concludes the first arc of the new sci-fi hit series.  Stel Caine has just one chance to save what remains of her family.  But how high is too high a cost for tomorrow?

Black Vortex, Chapter 4 - With some of their members captured by the villainous Mr. Knife, the team must decipher the secrets of the Black Vortex in All-New X-Men #38!  Fortunately, Peter Quill has an old war buddy that may be able to help.

New Series - Three gangs. Five girls. No way out. Machete Betty leads a small gang of women under the selfappointed task of protecting their home of Old Beach, one of three boroughs surrounding a rich metropolitan city. Magical terrorists have taken over Dr. Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum in S.H.I.E.L.D. #3, and the only back-up Agent Coulson can get is Spider-Man and one of Strange's oldest foes!

New Series - Philadelphia police officer Greg Hettinger is waking up in a world where he's a killer, hopelessly scarred and hooked on painkillers. What does a man do when he can no longer face the world, yet still wants to do good? He puts on a hood.  Duane Swierczynski and Michael Gaydos kick off a dark and exciting new line of re-vamped Archie Comics heroes with Black Hand #1!

Rasputin is killed, shot by a sniper on the frontlines of the first World War!  But that's not how it's supposed to happen.  Find out more in Rasputin #5.

Mark Waid and Chis Samnee begin the climactic final chapter of their beloved, Eisner Award Winning run with the return of one of Matt Murdock's oldest and scariest enemies in Daredevil #13.

New Series - In the post-apocalyptic city of New Angeles, killing isn't just a crime - it's entertainment.  Lee Bermejo (Joker, Luther: Man of Steel, Batman: Noel) turns Los Angeles into a killing frenzy show in Suiciders #1, from Vertigo.

Jason Aaron and Ron Garney bring the story of the Raths to a bloody conclusion in Men of Wrath #5.

In Gotham Academy #5, the students are assigned to uncover the hideous secrets of Gotham Academy's North Hall!

When new lust fades, where do you go?  Sex Criminals vol. 2: Two Worlds One Cop follows Jon and Suzie on their strange adventure.  An Austin Books favorite!

The Fade Out vol. 1 is set in the backlots and bars at the end of the Golden Age of Hollywood.  Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips have another noir hit centered around an unending reshoot, a damaged writer, a dead movie star, and her lookalike replacement.

The remaining communities unite for last stand against the Saviors in The Walking Dead HC Book 11.

Tony Chu, the cibopathic federal agent with the ability to get psychic impressions from what he eats, has been busy.  Now the people closest to Tony are conspiring to get revenge for a terrible loss he suffered by finding a brutal killer in Chew vol. 9: Chicken Tenders.
