Greetings HPN members,
We are glad you’re back this week. It’s graduation season and the beginning of summer. It’s a great time for us to pray for the next generation of filmmakers who have just finished film school and are about to embark on their careers as filmmakers, storytellers, and world-shapers through arts, media and entertainment. We want to pray for the Christians coming into the entertainment industry to keep their eyes on Jesus and for the pre-Christians to find Him along the way. Here is an article about some entertainment leaders who gave the Commencement speeches at Universities across the country and what they said to inspire the new generation of graduates:

Remembering Tim Keller
We want to honor a special man, Pastor Tim Keller, who was a pastor, author and speaker - a true Christian leader for many decades and a supporter of HPN. Tim passed away on May 19, 2023, from cancer, and yet his global impact continues. He was an HPN member and personally had an impact on thousands of creative professionals not only in New York City, but across the world. We ask that you pray for his wife Kathy, his three sons and their friends and church members who are mourning the loss of a leader and a loved one.

HPN Global Chapter Director Summit!
Please be praying for our 2nd HPN Local Chapter Director’s (LCD) Summit this August 3-5th in Hollywood! In 2016 we hosted our first Summit and 60 Local Chapter Directors came from all over the world to gather for a 3 day missions trip, praying for our people, meeting one another and leaving with a vision for the importance of praying for our world’s entertainment leaders and professionals. Please pray that this August God brings together the perfect group of LCDs for our exciting Summit, for HPN to continue growing internationally, and for an amazing and life-changing time together in Hollywood for our LCDs!

Biola is Making an Eternal Difference!
HPN is excited to celebrate an amazing step of growth for the highly rated Biola School of Media Arts and the recent donation by In-N-Out, to partner in the development of their new facilities, faculty and opportunities for their film students! In thanks for the $92mil gift, Biola University has renamed its Film School "The Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts" in tribute to Esther L. Snyder, co-founder of In-N-Out. HPN has had incredible Biola production interns in the past decade so we are so thankful to hear this news!

Shia LeBeouf Growing in Faith!
We’re very thankful to learn that actor Shia LaBeouf, who grew up Catholic, is growing in his Catholic faith, and he is even committed to taking RCI classes. We know that Shia has has a tumultuous past, but we want to have hope for his future. Let’s pray for Shia to fall more in love with Jesus every day and that his faith will influence his work, his relationships and his global impact!

Pray for AMPTP During Writers Strike
On our last Call Sheet we prayed for the writers during the Writers Strike and this week we want to pray for the Producers and Executives who are a part of the AMPTP. They are on the other side of the negotiating table with the writers and their decisions are just as impactful as the writers'. We want them to have the wisdom to come to a fair and equitable decision on the terms of the upcoming contract and that it will happen quickly. The Directors Guild just finalized their contract with the AMPTP on Monday and yet they still need the more complicated terms of the Writers contracts to be worked out. And next month SAG/AFTRA’s contract comes up for renewal, so we need to pray for the AMPTP and SAG/AFTRA leaders to come to terms with that contract as well. And please pray for the strike to end.

The Crushing of an Artist
We want to start the summer by praying for artists who are so commonly not understood, even bullied for thinking outside the box, not fitting in with business-minded people and often criticized for their creative thinking. A thoughtful young artist wrote this essay to express what she and so many of her creative friends have experienced. It’s called “The Crushing of an Artist”. Would you read it and pray for artists across the globe to find community with like-minded people and for Christian artists to find healing from “church hurts” that cripple so many artists:

Paul Simon on Death, Faith, and Life
Let's pray for the iconic singer/songwriter Paul Simon, who just wrote about his preparation for death on his latest album 'Seven Psalms'. At 81 years old, we want Paul to know Jesus intimately, and when the time comes, to pass into eternity with the angels singing - maybe one of his songs!

Pray for Christina Applegate
Let’s pray for Christina Applegate, star of Married With Children, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2021, and has recently chosen to stop acting in front of the camera. Because of the difficulties with the disease Christina will only do some voice-over work in the near future. Let’s pray for her to find peace, joy and even healing through a relationship with Jesus. We want her to feel His strength, hope and healing.

The Chosen and Lionsgate
We are celebrating a new industry partnership between the producers of the successful series The Chosen and the production company/studio Lionsgate Entertainment! Lionsgate will distribute the series from now on and their global platform will expand the impact of The Chosen across the globe. Please pray for this recent distribution deal between The Chosen and Lionsgate and ask the Lord to build strong relationships between the two companies, that they will work together joyfully and see incredible impact through the show and their business decisions.

Shannen Doherty
Actress Shannen Doherty is fighting for her life and we are asking for you to join us in praying for her! Shannon shared via social media that the breast cancer that she has been fighting is Stage 4 and has now spread to her brain. Let's be praying for Shannen to encounter the hope, peace, and healing power of Jesus. The Lord desires for Shannen to know Him, and we still believe that she can experience that! Let's be praying for her salvation and healing!

I think one of the greatest plights of man is this phrase: “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” We believe God completely in some circumstances and then we doubt Him a moment later by getting fearful, angry, or discouraged.
