College Donates 36 Boxes to Overflow Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving around the corner, Sherman College employees were eager to help families in need have a happier holiday weekend by filling boxes of groceries in partnership with the United Way of the Piedmont, the Bridge at Green Street and TOTAL Ministries.

Spartanburg’s Overflow Thanksgiving initiative provides boxes of nonperishable items to families to help them prepare a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. The filled boxes also come with extra supplies to help feed children over the long holiday weekend. College employees pulled together and filled 36 boxes to support this year’s Overflow Thanksgiving effort, an increase from last year’s donation.

“I want to thank [Sherman College] for all you did to coordinate and organize Overflow efforts at your workplace,” said Ryann McCall, donor engagement associate at United Way of the Piedmont. “Thanks to the generosity of your team at Sherman College and many others, more than 1,400 families in our community will enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving meal.”
New Program Directly Benefits Students Entering Clinic

Achieving intern status is a major milestone in the educational process at Sherman College. The on-campus Chiropractic Health Center is where students gain hands-on experience under the watchful guidance of our talented team of licensed doctors of chiropractic.
While this time is an exciting transition, the cost can present a challenge for students. Interns are responsible for purchasing their own name tags, business cards, and clinic jackets, all necessary items as they begin caring for members of our local community.

To help lighten the financial burden on students as they enter this special phase of their education, consider our new Sponsor an Intern program. This program allows supporters to sponsor specific student interns that are entering the clinic. You can sponsor an intern who is from your home state, practices the same technique as you, or is involved in specific clubs on campus. Ready to help? Sponsor an intern today!

SUBLUXNATION 2021 is a virtual chiropractic summit where leading chiropractors and business professionals present the latest trends within subluxation-centered chiropractic.

Academy of Chiropractic Philosophers Underway in Mexico

The Academy of Chiropractic Philosophers (ACP) program continued its progress in Mexico, hosting the second module October 22-24 in Vera Cruz with 23 enthusiastic participants in the program. Sherman College’s ACP is a one-year course designed to enhance the understanding, depth, and breadth of chiropractic philosophy.
ACP sessions challenge the thinking process and the application of philosophy in the chiropractic profession. Successful completion of the 100-hour program leads to membership in the prestigious Academy of Chiropractic Philosophers, and the ICA Council on Philosophical Chiropractic Standards accepts the successful completion of the ACP for 100 hours toward its Diplomate in Philosophical Chiropractic Standards.
Schedules and details for each program are posted on our website at Email Angel Radick if you have interest in establishing an additional ACP course in your area.
Health Center Meets Needs in the Community

The Sherman College Chiropractic Health Center takes seriously its role of serving the Spartanburg community, and employees, students and patients often support local organizations with fundraisers and collections throughout the year. The Health Center recently collected hygiene and school supplies for the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind through Tears of the Saints, Inc.

Tears of the Saints, Inc. (T.O.T.S.), is a 501(C)3 community service-based nonprofit corporation committed to helping homeless and low income families achieve lasting independence by finding temporary shelter, food, clothing and support services for families. The organization, established in 2009, serves as a liaison that works with other non-profit organizations, linking those in need with those who want to help. T.O.T.S. is not a religious organization but was founded on biblical principles.

Health Center Case Doctor Kimberley Fielder, D.C., ’06, helped coordinate the collection effort at the on-campus clinic. “The Sherman College family exudes positivity and giving,” she said. “It was an absolute honor to serve Tears of the Saints. I am convinced that when we work as a team, miracles happen.”
