Greetings!

Congratulations to the June and September 2021 Graduates!

Sherman College exists to nurture and advance a simple and powerful idea: that all healing comes from above-down, inside-out. We educate, graduate, and support successful doctors of chiropractic who fulfill their responsibilities and serve humanity with competency, compassion and integrity. Our graduates have been educated at the preeminent chiropractic college in the world. They are now ready to bring the message of principled chiropractic and the valuable service of vertebral subluxation correction to the betterment of their practice members and to the advancement of our profession and the world. Sherman Creates New Faculty Recruiting Corps

The pandemic of 2020 forced the college to adapt and find ways to connect with pools of interested prospective students without in-person visits to colleges and career fairs. As a result, in 2021, the college has developed the Faculty Recruiting Corps. This is a group of chiropractic faculty and administrators who volunteer their time to speak remotely at recruiting events hosted by the college's recruitment team. The college recruitment team began developing methods for reaching healthcare-oriented clubs at colleges and universities and hosting video conferences about careers in chiropractic. Our chiropractic faculty are well trained and knowledgeable to speak about both, the profession of chiropractic and the education at Sherman College. Currently, Enrollment Services is developing an ambitious video conferencing schedule for the fall with hopes of reaching more prospective students than ever before. The college is very thankful for our highly motivated recruiters and committed faculty as we look toward a bright future.
Students Excel in Practice Management Elective

This spring, 16 Sherman College students elected to use their final quarter of study to be on-site with field doctors and mentors across the country, observing the day-to-day operations of successful chiropractic practices. The Practice Management Observational Elective (PMOE) focuses on business practices rather than patient care, allowing students to see every aspect of how a practice runs and operates.

The sixteen students who participated logged more than 4,000 collective observational hours; some students observed high-volume offices serving more than 300 patient visits per week. During the class's weekly accountability calls, students worked through many aspects of the business models, sharing what they observed at their host sites.

One of the most frequent comments from students was how essential teamwork was for the practice to operate effectively. Other key takeaways included the importance of time management and training, training, training. Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences Dr. Heath Treharne, who leads the class, said this course allows for high student engagement and that the use of technology for these calls leads to better experiences for all involved.

For details on participating in this program as a potential field doctor, please email Dr. Heath Treharne or Dean of Clinical Sciences Dr. Armand Rossi.
College Publications, Communications Receive National Recognition

Six of Sherman College's key marketing and communications projects have been recognized at the national level, with one receiving first-place honors and others taking home second place, third place and honorable mention prizes in the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) Communications Contest. Before advancing to the national contest, an annual competition that encourages and rewards excellence in communication, the entries won first-place honors in Media Women of South Carolina's statewide contest. This year's national contest included more than 2,000 entries from 39 states.

Sherman College's Brand Guide took first place in the nation in its category (public relations materials - catalog/manual/handbook). The college received second place nationally in three categories, including its Instagram presence (social media - nonprofit/government/educational), Community Impact Report (public relations materials - report), and COVID communications (crisis communications campaign). Earning third place was a speech written for Lyceum 2020 (speech), and earning honorable mention was the college's Excel magazine (publication regularly edited by entrant, magazine/magapaper).

Senior Director of Marketing and Communications Karen Brower Rhodes, M.B.A., and Communications Coordinator Erica Martin developed these communications in 2020 as part of Sherman College's Office of Institutional Advancement. Read more on the blog.
